Ok so i am in month 2 of 60 of my iva and get married in 13 weeks, we are actually doing really well and i enjoy the fact that i have no overdraft or credit card. Our amount for food is nearly £90 per week (ideal for a small family with a little 3 year old)
We have managed to save a bit and hope in the new year to book a last minute holiday.
I have a debit card but don't want to annoy the creditors on our yearly review.
Am i better to keep saving and give the money to my parents and get them to book the holiday for me or should i get a prepaid mastercard and book it myself.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
There will no problem at all with you booking this holiday with your debit card. You've saved the money so you can spend it on what you like.

Thanks for the swift reply. We are learning to appreciate money so much more now and just didn't want our ISP or creditors to think, hang on if they can afford £x for a holiday then they can afford to pay more into the iva
You are allowed to make savings and a few of us have managed to go on holiday whilst in our IVA's, some have been abroad.
If you are concerned then you could run it past your IP just to make sure.

Well done for being able to save up for something special. The weekly small sacrifices you may be making will be worth it once you get that long earned break. As an IP in practice I never have problems with my clients making savings out of their allowances to payt for a modest holiday. It is unrealistic to expect a family to go five years without taking a break.

We havent been on a holiday for 9 years!!!
We did go to Florida 2 years on the trot which boosted my tan and my credit card balances!!
As soon as trust deed is done we will be saving up to go there again, before son gets too old to want to go away with us. One of my big money regrets is our mistakes have robbed him of family holidays. I dont know how some people in our street can afford to go away every year on a summer break!!!

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.
But can they really afford it Paul? They're probably well into the debt spiral!
We have been on holiday whilst in the IVA but that was funded by my daughter so didn't cost a lot.
Hubby's kids would still come away with us even now and they're adults!!!!!!

We are hoping the cars last a while yet and we can save our trust deed payments up(once we are finished) until we can afford the trip away using real money!!!!

We managed to have a cheap late deal to Tunisia last month although we paid cash and didn't use the debit card to pay for it. It was the money we had been putting away form allowances plus I had a few months of bonus which once the IVA had their bit I saved the rest.
It was brilliant to see the travel agents face we we brought this wad of cash out [:D][:D], there was no way we were leaving the shop and taking that with us it was hers as far as she was concerned [:D][:D.
I really loved paying cash for it as well as it felt more real, normally holidays don't become real to me until you get the tickets but paying over the cash had the same effect [:D].
Need to madly save again now get some contigency behind us incase something breaks if not another late deal next year hopefully.

I'm excited to find out where you are going Lesley!! I can't face holidays now with the ailments I have. If I had a transporter to get me there without carrying a case etc I would willingly go!
I am too but don't push it because I know they're all planning it for me, I've booked the time off work and it's not a week but it's not two weeks I think it's 11 days which is a bit random?
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Sounds very intriguing Lesley! When are you going?
