Hi Kerri it is £300 a day. Kerri is right until you get yur card through they can arrange for you to withdraw at another bank. They did tis for me and I went to Tsb as the only rbos is in the city centre and too far to bother.

Go for ThinkBanking - £25 setup fee and £12.50 per month admin. All my debits taken care of, money transferred on the same day into my account that I can use everyday. Brilliant!! No overdraft, no nasty letters!

Hi
I'll also throw my hat in the ring and say Think Banking,it takes away the uncertainty of acceptance as you will be accepted. You also get a debit card that can be used everywhere.

Hi guys thanks so much again! I have phoned them today and they have accepted me - the guy actually laughed when he said I had passed the credit check... card etc on its way hurrah a bit of good news in a day of trying to deal with Alliance and Leicster.
Had a nightmare with them. Called this morning to say that my OR has authorised my withdrawal of all the funds (440 quid in total) he even faxed them and spoke to them he is a lovely man! Phoned was told to go into the branch snuck out of work only to be told by the cashier that they close my account and send me a cheque which could take 10 days. Explained that I am BR no bank account for cheque - she called the BR department the same people who said I could withdraw all of my funds now my OR had authorised only to be told no I haven't got a stable enough account.
Spoke to a woman on the phone and she said "You must realise that you are a risk and quite frankly you are lucky to be getting 50 quid out of us today - that is all i am prepared to give you" I couldn't believe it.
Explained that I had made in total 5 calls today to sort this out. Yes I know she said but i am not convinced that your account is stable come back and try again on Monday. Explained that its the weekend and I need the money first thing to pay my child's nursery fees on Monday. "You can have 50 quid that's enough for petrol and food"
It's a b***** basic account, no overdraft, nothing! I explained that to her, all the time the people behind in the quque can hear me, in the end I had to leave and take the £50.00 with me. The woman behind the counter said "What did she say" and then gave me £50.00 quid wish I would have lied and said I can take the lot out!
Called my OR who was outraged said they can't do this but its their policy rules etc and he has said for them to release it. Don't know what else I can do apart from go back in there tomorrow and try again - I wouldn't mind but they are not a creditor, its a basic no frills account so no danger of me going OD on it sigh why is it so hard?
feel completely at the mercy of a jumped up woman who said I was a risk and humiliated me.

fudge what an awful thing to happen to you, is your OR going to do anything about this for you, how can they do this to you if the money is in the account and they aren't even a creditor, it beggars belief, i hope you get your money sorted soon.

I know and it was all going so well : ( well the OR said he cannot do anything more than say to them again that he authorises this to come out - what A&L are concerned about is that the account isn't stable - i.e. I could have paid for something that hasn't yet come through, the woman I spoke to (the horrible one) said I can even see today that something is happening on your account. I said what could that be, I haven't used it since Monday to withdraw money and you froze it on Wednesday. She said Hmm well I am not convinced its stable. She said if anything comes out and we have given you all the money back we are liable - I was sooooo patient and I said again but I have no OD or credit facilities on it how can it not be stable. I know deep down that i will get my money but its a matter of when, really don't know what to do about paying for my nursery fees on Monday as obviously I pay everything in cash now.

Hi
Terrible
Once you get your money I suggest a letter to A+L head office and get the name of the member of staff that seems to have her own policy on bankruptcy

PS what really upset this was the women behind the counter were really embarressed as if I was a begger wondering into a bank - and the woman on the phone was so condescending and horrible about it. Sure she had a job to do but to say I will give you 50.00 I don't care what you have been told when I phoned beforehand to check I could withdraw the money out made me feel really crap.

What a pain for you Fudge. At least you haven't got any debts now ... I bet that jumped up woman has though!

I suppose this is a prime example that one needs to clear everything out of the bank before BR ... hindsight is a great thing though [:(]

Hopefully it's just a blip.

Thinking of you

Hello fudge

This is a horrible story and I feel for you, its your money, how dare they? Someone is on a power trip and need bringing down with a letter. I just wonder what sort of people get pleasure out of treating another human being like this, they should be seeing a vet. I hope you get it sorted, its your money, not theirs, the swines.

I had my card declined today 3 times and I was megga embarressed but the people on the tills were really nice about it, didnt make me feel like a nothing, in fact one young chap went bright red. I just had to go and get the cash, phoned the bank to ask why, and they said some shops our card has problems, really arsy like and I waited 20 mins to get through. They need to read up on how to treat people.

Sorry fudge I really do feel bad for you.

Thanks for being so supportive - feel more angry today, just spoke to my dad and said how dare that woman speak to me like that, she doesn't know the reason behind my circumstances and to make an assumption "To be frank your credit history is less than perfect" comment is really below the belt. Am going to call them this morning and see whether my account is more "stable" today and then if I can withdraw the whole lot. I am going to make a complaint about the way that the woman spoke to me and write a letter etc. But now i just need my cash - bright side in all of this is at least my OR was really helpful and lovely and tried to sort it out for me. Wish me luck! Mish what happened with Halifax and did you find taking any action helped?

Hi Fudge

I am disgusted by the treatment you have had, I strongly recommend you write a letter to their head office as soon as possible while its still fresh in your mind.
Glad you have the new Bank account sorted, the only advice I can give is if you wanted a high street branch bank then the CO OP have been great, my basic account was frozen briefly but they have confirmed I can keep it and certainly didnt make me feel embarressed, they were very professional. Shame that Nationwide doesnt accept undischarged BR's anymore as they too were very good (opened this account on day of BR). Any way good luck with thinkbanking.
All is quiet here, just waiting for news about the house, no post or calls from creditors, infact sometimes I forget I am BR (but not for long[;)]).
Hope everything else is going well for you
Take care

Pippa

Hi Pippa
I know you do forget you are BR then someone reminds you like this A&L situation. I wanted to go with the Co Op but my current account is with them and I owe them money on it for my OD so don't think they would have accepted me. Just spoke to A&L this morning they have now decided that Wednesday is the earliest that I can get my money out - they said that a payment made in Somerfield last Tuesday has only just hit the account and that they want to see it more stable. I feel at my wits end with them. I have 50 quid in my purse and have to pay for my bus fares, nursery fees and council tax on Monday. They didn't notified me this was going to happen just froze my account despite my OR sending two faxes saying I was allowed all of teh money in there. I did say to the woman I have a basic no frills account, you froze the account on Weds so I couldn't have used my card after this. Feel so low, don't know what to do, I am worried now about getting food for my me and my little girl to last up to Wednesday and the nappies etc she needs. I don't even feel on Weds that I am going to be allowed my money as she said we shall have to wait and see.

Hi Fudge
You need to go into your branch on Monday and sort this out. They are going to cause you hardship and they can see what debit payments are outstanding because your available balance reduces as soon as a debit is made at the retailer.
Please post more on Monday and remember to state the financial hardship that they are causing you.
