Hi UpinSmoke, glad it went well for you today. Regarding your direct debits, I was in the same pickle as you!! I had opened a new account hoping to enter into an IVA but ended up going BR. I'm with Think Banking and they are pretty good (so far!!) What I did was phone all those that needed paying and asked if they would take 2 payments the next month, and most were happy with this. Then you can phone Think and set up your direct debits but tell them to expect 2 lots of payments next month. If you cancel all your direct debits, the companies will contact you anyway so you'll be able to give them your new account details. There should be no problem withdrawing your money as you need it to pay bills, as long as the account isn't with one of your creditors or isn't overdrawn.

I have cancelled most of my direct debits now via each crediter except two who say I need to contact the bank about these. So I did this today and they say I need to write to them or visit the bank with my details. So I am sure that I will be having the same problems as you did soon. Wish me luck!!!!

I have also opened an account with Thinkbank and received my bank account Number and sort code, as they told me I had been excepted on the phone I decided to set up some of my direct debits in readiness for my next months wages. I have now found out that I should not have done this until my Thinkbank Card came through. Why oh Why do they make life so difficult for BRs. It seems that they all want to knock you down, and then when you go to get up, kick you in the teeth just for good measure.

There was me thinking I was doing so well!!!

No OR meeting date yet they will ring me next week when they have all the paperwork.

Life goes on I supose but why can't it be easy for a change.

And UpinSmoke, you can't even pay in any money until you receive the card!!!!! Even though I was desparate to as I wanted to pay some bills!!! Mad!!! But it only took about 2 weeks to get it all up and running, and as I said, so far so good. It will get easier for you I'm sure. When I went BR in August I thought that that was it - problems solved!! How wrong was I!! But its all getting sorted slowly and I'm sure it will be the same for you - keep positive - you are doing well - it's others that are complicating it!!!
