I can't believe it, I returned from my sister's with five loads of washing, started to tackle it all yesterday and the blooming washing machine went pop! Of course, if this had happened pre IVA, out would have come the credit card and I would have been off to Curry's. So with my new frugal way of thinking, I trawled the internet and found a 15 month old washer/dryer five miles away for £50. So into my emergency fund I went and paid good hard CASH for my 'new' secondhand washer. It works absolutely perfectly and I am chuffed to bits with it and the fact that I won't be paying for it for the next 12 months! [:)] Kazzy x

What a brilliant bargain Kazzy!

It should last you a fair while as well.

Fantastic budgeting. I must admit to having a new one a couple of months back as mine gave up.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Thanks guys, it just typical though isn't it. I've had my machine for five years and never a problem with it! If the telly blows up, we will do without, but I can't be without my washer!! :)

Doesn't is make you feel good about doing things like this? Kazzy if that payment puts you into hardship over the next month, I am sure your IP will allow you to deduct it from next month's IVA payment.

Thanks Melanie, but we'll be fine I'm sure. No problem with next month's payment. It certainly made me think how easy it was to reach for that dreaded CC. I know I am sad but I am really getting a good feeling about 'paying as I go'. Kazzy x

Hi nmd, we had a lovely time thank you. The weather was very kind to us, it was stifling in London for most of the week. Lovely to catch up with the family also, I don't get to see them very often. Hope you're ok. Kazzy x P.S. washer was a bargain and I've combatted my snobbery of buying secondhand goods from people I don't know. Watch out ebay, here I come! (Only joking, perhaps post IVA when I have more money :) :) )

Kazzy, no more snobbery for me either, i bought a dress from ebay the other night for £5.40 inc p&p brand new with tags. What a bargain!! Glad that you had a good time at your sisters. I ahve a week off in August and will be spending the week doing jobs around the house that I haven't yet got round to in a normal working week. Sad I know but quite looking forward to it!!

There's nothing wrong with shopping on e-bay - I get most of my work clothes from there as I really love Long Tall Sally and there is no shop in Cardiff. I have had some real bargains lately, and it is like getting a little suprise every time a parcel is delivered to the office. (Not allowed to have them delivered to home as hubby gets cross about amount of clothes I already have!!!)

Must be something in the air, both my carpet cleaner and my vacuum cleaner have broken down at the same time. The Carpet cleaner just needs a new rubber band thingy but it looks like a new vacuum cleaner.
