Hello everyone, just wanted to make a small post, our bubble burst today, we budget Wednesday to Wednesday, and have no £.49p til this Wednesday, no credit card to fall back on, no overdraft, but we have got food & petrol bought with OUR money.Just wanted to share this as a few of my previous posts may have seemed over-bloated and seemingly glib about being in an IVA.But being committed to paying back our debts we have to learn to live like this. BUT we have discovered walking, and playing games as a family this Bank Holiday and they all ARE FREE.

It is hard at first, but you will get used to it. We have been doing it for the last 4 years, and can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hang on in there, it will get easier!!

I don't think you have been glib at all.

Everything is paid for, you've obviously had a great bank holiday, even if it could have been warmer!

Thanks Kallis3, I just felt my previous posts were alittle glib, but we had a great BH, my mum & dad came up, so extra people to feed, but i explained we had a weekly budget and they were more than happy to chip and so we had a kitty.I think of it like a 5 year loan, every payment is a step closer, first payment gone through this weekend, 59 to go.

They weren't glib at all.

I'm glad you have had a fab time. I'm frozen at the moment as it is so cold here and we have the heating on!

So long as you've got food and warmth and you're happy that's all that matters. Not glib at all I like the security the IVA brings me and I budget Friday to Friday and try and save a few pennies and even that .49 can go in a tin and add to. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Even though its a little bit naff, being skint, i have to admit it also feels great!!!! All that burden slowly washing away. Food in house , petrol in car and all bills paid. fantastic!!!

Hey matey

I have made 44 payments since I started my IVA and to be honest it gets easier and easier. You do not miss the money you pay in cause you are used to it and you know what you can and can't afford so you budget and live within your means. I have had a few months throughout the past 3 1/2 years where I have struggled for the last week due to unexpected outgoings or birthdays in the family etc. However, as stated above, when you get to pay day and treat yourself to something nice it makes it all worthwhile because you have not had to resort to borrowing money to survive that last week which you would soon add up if you did it every month i tell you. If we run out of money now we stay in watch sky which we have already paid for or go on the internet, watch a film or go to the gym which again has been paid for already. It's definitely do-able and you will get in the stride of it before long. First month is bound to be an adjustment for you but you will be fine. Keep us updated and if you ever do feel down just post on here and we'll all re-assure you as much as we can :)

Good luck
DaveyBoi - Just Keep Smiling :)

I've been down to 13p a week before pay day once during my IVA, but I've had enough food in so I just locked myself in that weekend, and watched DVD's!

I'm sure it happens to everyone at some point.
