I bank with Abbey, but i should think that Thinkbanking is an ideal way to learn how to manage your finances responsibly, and it speaks for itself all the posters that use it and will continue even after an iva is complete.

Hi Tracey
There are many different accounts and all have differing things to offer. Thinkbanking takes a lot of the sorting out from you as they more or less lock your bill money in one account and give you the rest in another, they in effect manage your money for you. Maybe some could say this is not learning to manage it yourself, but when things are so tight at times in an iva you need to know where you are all of the time and I find this account takes some of the pressure off as by the time you enter an iva you have had enough of trying to do it yourself. I have said before 12.50 a month may seem a lot to pay for an ac but if you add the cost of a prepaid debit card and the fact that you cannot get charges with this ac one probably cancels the other out. They also know of your situation and I have always found the staff friendly and easy to talk to which is nice from a bank.

I have been looking at the Thinkbanking site ... it looks a great idea and something I would find very useful. I notice however that the Royal bank of Scotalnd are behind them ... would the same apply that you shouldn't open an account with an organisation that is also a creditor?

No, it doesn't apply to this account. I am bankrupt and Natwest were my main creditor but I could still open the account.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

And I am reclaiming bank charges from NatWest and it has not had any impact on my application either.
