I don't like cash, paper notes, I don't mind coins though!

When I have cash in my bag I know it has to be banked because I know all of it doesn't belong to me, even though I have earned it, I still have to pay my dues from it.
7 year IVA completed in December 2016 - there is light at the end of that tunnel

Prefer notes to coins myself - it usually means I have more money!

We were lucky enough to obtain 2 bank cash card accounts & we have my hubbys wage going into one & ALL the bills go out of this account - anything left is for the other parts of our budgets.
Our other account is for my Child Tax Credits & Child Benefit which is our house keeping, petrol etc.
We now shop once a week, we make meal plans for the week ahead & only get offers if we use them. We live on the food we have in the house till the next shop - our daily spends consists of milk, bread etc.
We've become so frugal its silly!! But it enables us to buy treats & xmas presents for the boys!

Jan I prefer notes to coins - it makes me think more before I break into a note! BUt then lots of coins make me feel good too - as long as they have the pound sign[:D][:D]

I just hate the way my purse bulges when it's all coins and no notes.

We do one large shop a week and the odd top up which is usually for fresh bread. We buy our milk weekly and sliced bread (always reduced) to put in the freezer.

We don't plan meals ahead, hubby is good with food and we always make sure that whatever we have used during the week is replaced.

Plus we use the local butcher for our weekly meat.

As hubby is only home for two days a week & different days each week - we plan ahead.
When hes not here for meals(due to his line of work) its just me n kids to plan for & hubbys lunches (at home).
We dont have a local butcher, but do buy all our veg from a local fruit n veg shop. Its suprisingly cheaper & better quality, fruit is not so good in the winter but spot on in the summer.
We plan so we dont go over our budget - but its often changes depending on offers!!

Hubby cooks large portions of things like chilli and spag and freezes them so we can have them anytime.

He's just cooked up a load of beef bones to make up a stock as a base for his stew.

It also means that we now have some dripping so I can have that on toast! Yum!

I find it helps, if you can set up all your DD's to come out on the same day and close to payday. I get paid on 28th of month so DD's come out on the 1st.

I also make sure hubby uses coupons at the checkouts and we buy a lot of reduced groceries.

If you can take your own lunch to work, then do so as a couple of pound every day on a sarnie soon adds up.

I love having cash in my purse..I challenge myself not to spend it and it generally works [:)]

My DD's don't come out on the same date, but I do know what date they are all due.

We buy reduced stuff as well, and I either take crispbreads to work or Asda's Soup to go which is brilliant.

Our DD are around the same dates of each other & I also go online every day to make sure everything is as it should be.
Logging into your bank accounts each day also give you more control & better understanding of your I&E. AND to make sure you dont go into the red - without that old handy overdraft - that I have to say I do not miss anymore!!

I have a savings account that runs alongside my current account, online if there are oddments in the current account I transfer them over and this can happen two or three times a week, i.e: 29.22 balance in current, I do an online transfer for the .22 to the savings, it's becoming an obsession to keep it at a rounded figure but the savings goes up, over time you can accumulate a little and when I get £10 I transfer it back. Silly game but helps for a treat x

I don't log into the bank every day now, probably once a week.

Lesley - if that works for you, it's not silly.

Lesley do you think we were seperated at birth...I do exactly the same [:0][:D]

I'm sure natwest will contact me if I don't log in every day [:D]

I'm also using my money tin (FF secret santa gift) - all our 50p's are going in there. I also have my odd change jar...surprising how it all mounts up!
