You cannot obtain credit without the consent of the supervisor and I see no reason for consent to be withheld. You have completed the IVA and have no further liability to it so I do not see why you needed to cut up the card.
Hi Michael! I havnt sought consent from my supervisor but as previously stated the company told my husband that we could now apply for credit! The letter which I received following my final payment states that my iva has now come to a satisfactory conclusion and certificate of completion will follow! I take it that means I am ok with credit now? This is so confusing!
There does seem to be a bit of confusion and it just needs GT to clear it up. Go back and explain the IVA is over other than final administration and you would like consent to obtain credit. I see no reason for this to be refused.
I've spoken to GT and they advised that still bound by IVA rules until certifcate comes through- so cannot obtain credit.
Doesnt bother me that had to cancel- not worth risking after 5 years, will just re-apply when fully completed they've accepted me once so fingers crossed for next time.
Several months ago i applied, was accepted and received a vanquis card with a £750 credit limit as i thought because i had made my last payment all would be ok, for me to use it and make full payment on a monthly basis to repair my credit.
When i mentioned this to GT i was told i would be in breach on my iva, so i advised them i destroyed the card by cutting it up, that i then phoned vanquis to cancel the account they made me wait nearly 2 weeks though because i needed the original password i used to set up the account to close it but mislaid it, worst 2 weeks i ever had waiting for new login details to arrive, thinking i would fail my iva.
I will wait untill i receive my completion certificate and soon removal from the IR before i apply once more for a credit card, one i recently discovered has a much lower rate than vanquis and pays cashback on all purchases and is ideal for those wanting to repair credit.

Regards David.
I am waiting for my completion certificate, people seem to indicate there is a chance for me to get a credit card and I wont have to wait years ?
