I had a personal account with Barclays, loans etc to the debt value of 80K...I entered an IVA 2 years ago and I still have my Barclays business account...not all banks business and personal sections speak to each other and compare notes!
you could always open a Barclays or Natwest business account, stick a few pounds in and keep the account to fall back on! :o)

HSBC may close the account, but will give you 30 days notice of termination. I personally would not have chosen HSBC, as they do close the majority of accounts held by people in IVAs. Could you try another bank in the meantime?

yes I will do, I chose hsbc cos I worked for them for 8 years and so still had a personal account with them. Just thought it would be easy, they didn't ask for any documentation, all done over phone so thought it would be quick and easy. Melanie, my creditors are tsb, barclaycard, halifax, capital one. What bank would you suggest that isn't linked to them in some way? Thanks for all the advice folks.

The Co-per come highly recommended, although I am not sure that they do business banking, and you could also try NatWest.

It might be worth getting in touch with these people, who are very helpful, to see what they say ... Andy first posted the link a few weeks ago and I have managed to secure a new lease car which I need for my business from them with a great deal of ease.
