It's really tough for small businesses at the moment. I am still trying to sort my debt situation out as my successful IVA was forced to fail last year because of an unforseen debt that came about as an old liability to a lease for the shop we ran. Hopefully my F&F will be accepted in the early part of the new year ... but it's taken almost three years to sort it all out.

Staying ever optimistic that 2008 has a successful outcome for you both financially in seeking a solution and for your relationship with your wife.[:)]

The brewery will have faced this problem before - they are going to have a lot more in 2008 I believe.
You and your wife have been under so much stress - I understand a bit because I am in a similar situation.
I have a restaurant and our turnover has gone down a lot this year. Four out of five of the local pubs are up for sale due to a major downturn after the smoking ban came in.
Maybe in 6 months time when you have put it all behind you, you will both feel completely differently. In the meantime happy new year - I hope it gets better for you!

Hi Trixmar,

I'm sorry to hear of your situation and hope that you manage to find a suitable solution. Please let us know how you get on with the brewery - I will be interested to see whether they are favourable of your IVA application.

Kind regards,
Terry Balfour
