Hi,we've got telephone appointments set up with Melanie Giles' company and McCambridge now. all our paper work(that we can think of) is together ready.

If we can't manage the amount to do the F&F iva to settle the debts i'm worried about allowances for things like heating,i'm disabled.my gas fires broken so i'm having to use the heating(on low&wearing extra layers)but it's so cold at the moment. We've got someone coming out to see if we need more loft insulation.

Any tips for these phone calls? things we ought to ask?
Things to discuss before we speak to them?
Thankyou

Grant Thornton do not pay fees to CAB's for IVA referrals. GT have built up a long lasting relationship with the CAB's and in return GT offer training days and seminars for debt advisors at the CAB. No money changes hands as the CAB's are not allowed to accept. I used to work for GT and this is how it works. GT cover the whole of the country for CAB IVA referrals and if a client decides on a VA, then the office at Belfast deal with it. Some CAB's also refer to Payplan, however GT have the monopoly.

thankyou for that reasurance. it is difficult feeling so vulnerable at a time so stressed, when we as in the general public approach anyone for help with serious money problems there is a great deal of trust involved.

All good companies with good reputations on the forum. I'm personally with Melanie Giles and cannot fault the service received. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I hope it went OK and that we were able to offer you some suggested debt solutons. I assume that you spoke to my colleague Tina?

Hi Rosepetal, you can't go far wrong with Melanie's services, always great advice on the forum and a brilliant and deserved reputation as many others on here have. Just for others reference I was with Grant Thornton and finished my IVA in April. They were excellent, always had phone calls answered and very good advice when needed, so I can highly recommend them. Good luck with the IVA, firstly it's a tremendous relief when it happens and it really doesn't seem too long beofre you get to the end.

I'm also with GT - we were referred from CAB to GT and we didn't shop around, we had no idea what we were supposed to be doing. Heads in the sand possibly. However so far I cannot fault them, any problems we have come to a solution. and that includes missing a payments 3 months in.....
