I am just about to start my fourth year of our IVA, and have come across a problem with my car insurance,, i pay monthly and have found the price goes up some £200 pounds due to my credit score.. some will not even do monthly payments.. can anyone recommend an IVA friendly insurer ??
I've never had a problem with any car insurance as regards monthly payments. I believe Aviva are ok but you need to do a good search round.
I've never been credit checked for any insurance at all.

I was always under the impression that checks done for monthly insurance were purely to check address details.
I've taken out pet insurance since being in the IVA and was accepted straight away with no checks.

Gosh...slightly worried now. I went on a comparison website a few days ago to see how insurance on my new car will look. £800 for the cheapest three and the other twenty odd insurers all wanted £1,300 and over £2000! If i can't get one of the cheap quotes my ip is going to kill me!! This is because of my dodgy postcode rather than the car which is only a small fiat. When i entered my boyfriends postcode as comparison the quote were below £400. Oh dear oh dear!
Perhaps you should move in with your boyfriend????????????

Try swiftcover, it's an internet only insurer and I've never had any probs with them.
There have been some reports in the news today that motor insurance premiums are on the increase with many going up over £200 in one year because of dubious whiplash claims. I think the "Have you been injured in an accident" claims firms have a lot to answer for. Its costing us all in the long run!!
Jan - we are hoping to move in together this year. Me getting the car is the first step in that becoming possible. I will make a list of all the recommended insurance firms and give them a go when im on the Sunday shift. Thanks all

Really bizzare, however by chance went for a quote from Santander our biggest creditor in our IVA, and guess what they were £500 cheaper than everyone including monthly payment intrest.. Happy days thanks everyone.
I've not had a problem so far, and I have taken out new pet insurance since being in the IVA and it went through with no problems at all.

Hi all - I've done a bit of leg work on my car insurance today and the best prices coming up on the comparison sites are with Admiral, Diamond, Elephant.co.uk and Bell. I've only heard of admiral before...does anyone know whether they are iva friendly or even any good?
The other companies are good ones, but no idea whether they are IVA friendly or not.

Admiral, and Elephant gave competative prices until you try and buy on a monthly payment plan, then they credit checked and would only offer on a one off payment.. NO direct debit...
