My Disability Living allowance is included in my monthly IVA payments. However, my car has just gone off the road and the only way I can get another car is to use my DLA money on the mobility scheme. I am registered disabled (higher rate) and cannot manage without a car. Can you advise if my insolvency practitioner will be able to allow me to get another car on the mobility scheme. Many thanks.

Hi Susan and welcome to the forum

Is this likely to affect your ability to make your IVA payments, and if so you will need to discuss this directly with your IP. It is possible that a variation could be put forward, if you needed to arrange a lower level of repayment.

My husband has just applied for the mobility part of the DLA. If he is successful, and he gets extra money, obviously we will have to tell our IP.

If he uses it to get a motability car, will we still have to tell the IP, or would he be able to go out and get a car?

He'd still need to tell his IP, but I cannot see it making any difference to your payments Kallis.
