That's exactly how I feel Tracy. I don't think I would have got through the last few months without the support from Dave, my family and friends and everyone on the forum. I hope you get on ok at the hospital.

Can I just say, glory glory Man Utd, the Reds go marching on on on - I hope!!!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Not sure what I'll be doing tomorrow yet. Maybe a spot of DIY or some hoovering...... Yeah right!!!

I will be glued to the sofa tomorrow night.

Just one point about these newspaper offers. I hope you've all included it in your income/expenditure budget. 40p a day soon adds up. Lol.

Come on United

Dave

Hi everyone
Just wanted to let you know that I have been in an IVA for a year now yipppeeee 4 more years to go!!!

In a weeks time we will be taking our family on holiday to Great Yarmouth with the Sun deals. For 6 of us it has cost only £57 from mon-fri and we got free passes to take us into the evening entertainment. Whilst this may not be as good as a holiday abroad, it is a fantastic break for our children at a very small price. We sold some of our old bits and bobs on car boots and Ebay to pay for the holiday and save some money for spends whilst we are away.

So it is possible to take a holiday whilst in an IVA without the need to give half your overtime or windfalls to your IP.

I will let you know what is was like when we return.

You can pay £15 per person and visit places in europe with these deals also!!!

hello spenmotherhen, nice to hear from you again, how lovely your holiday sounds, it doesn't matter where you go its what you make of your holiday and you will enjoy it all the more knowing how you have had to struggle to get there.
i hope you and your family have a great time!

This is just the sort of attitude I love to see in my own clients - being prepared to be sensible but also not putting lives on hold and prioritising family events. I think a lot of our forum members will take inspiration from your positive manner, and I hope you have a great holiday.

Four years to go and counting!

to tracy.h and skippy13.
couldn't agree more.
stuff the debt, if it wasn't for people like me and mrs torch the banks would not make any profit.
mrs torch and my 2 daughters are far more important to me.
everytime i look at my girls and what they have achieved my chest swells with pride. i just wish i could help them out more now they are spreading their wings.
but my girls are just like a sponge. the harder you squeeze, the more you get back.

Kerri

I am constantly touched by your continuing situation. It must outweigh all the bad things when you know your children are supportive. It will always be the kids who are hit hardest as the things they take for granted can be suddenly taken away from them but it seems like they have come to understand your situation and are coping with it in a mature way beyond their ages.

I was brought up with my sister in the 70's and 80's (I'm 40 now) and my parents had a nice 3 bed semi but no savings and just about enough money to live on. We never went without but we didn't get the expensive toys etc. that some of our friends got and Thurs night was always egg and chips because dad got his wage packet that night so mum could go shopping on Friday. Our family holidays were to Pontins every year. Fantastic holidays with fantastic memories. So much to do when you got there even if it was pouring with rain, and as long as you avoided the arcades no extra cost. My first holiday abroad was with mates when I was 21. My parents used to collect vouchers from Kelloggs cereal boxes to get cheap train tickets (my dad got his 1st car when I was 16) and, as Fred Pontin used to say, we "booked early" and got discounts for the next year.

My point is kids will enjoy a holiday whether its in Greece, Spain or Southport (nearest one to you I guess). Also a friend of mine was very good at table tennis so would enter the weekly competition. Winners get invited back for another week to take part in the finals so if your kids are good at sports its a way of extra holidays.

I know times have changed drastically since i was a kid and peer pressure is huge these days but as other people have said a holiday for the family is still very important and can be done for much less than we might have thought when we didn't think we had money problems.

One last thing. Have you decided what you are going to tell people about the car going? If you are wanting to keep the real reason private then how about saying work provided it for you but they have taken it back. Just an idea.

Hope you find a way around the kid's football travel. I suppose you have 2-3 months til the new season starts now.

Best of luck

Dave

Dave

thanks dave it was hard yesterday but it has actually made me feel stronger today in the fact that these things aren't really ours anyway as they were all bought with credit,
in regards to the car i have told the other 2 that it has been sent for repairs and if they are too bad it won't be coming back and we will get another car in the near future, my eldest has been such a rock, he won't even leave me this weekend as hubby is a way also, he is very mature for his 14 yrs, in regards to the football, when the season ends the tournaments begin and these are worse than the matches as they are all day events so will have get hubby to take a few holidays those weekends to get round that.

my upbringing was much the same as yours and they are all good memories with the butlins holidays too. my mum has never had credit in her life except the mortgage if only i had followed suit.
regards

Yes - what your girlfriend decides to do with her money is her own business, although I rather think you will be doing a lot of housework in the near future!!!
