I personnally think that you should tell him. You can still sort it out on your own, but don't you think you would feel better for it? You wouldn't have to keep changing the subject, and he would understand why you couldn't do some of the stuff he wants you to. If he loves you then he will understand.

I agree, the longer it goes on, the harder it will be, and surely it is better for you to tell him, rather than him possibly find out?

Thanks Jan for your reply.
My partner as hardly any debt. He as credit cards but they get paid off each month. All his bills direct debit on time and so together and sorted. Think it will be a shock to him. Obviously i worry he may not want to stand by me! I fear it will shatter how he feels about me and the type of person he thinks i am. i pay my way so he as no reason to doubt me. My IVA is going well but its a long way to go. 5 more yrs!

Me and partner were sat the other day watching a programme where someone was heavily in debt we also have friends in a similiar position. My partner always makes the remark how he doesnt understand how people can get so heavily into debt!! I just think to myself if only you knew!

Perhaps when one of these programmes comes on, that is time to broach the subject with him?

i had debts that my husband knew nothing of, I worried myself stupid, about his reaction, but was advised on this forum to tell him. I finally did and he was brilliant. I'm so glad i told him, he wasn't best pleased at first as you can imagine, but he has been a rock to me.

I just couldn't imagine keeping something like this from my wife. It would just hurt her too much. Trust is too important.

There's a strong chance that if you do confide in her, that she will be angry but respect that you've shared your troubles with her. In fact I'd be certain.

Just go for it.
