I cant comment on this as I was a single parent when I looked into an IVA. I had everything explained to me throughly. I think that the other half's contribution to the household bills/mortgage/rent is taken into account.

It is your decision how to proceed with this, like you say its your debt and only you can make the decision on what you want to do re the IVA or BR. I just feel that you are not sure as to the legal ability to give up work to look after your child or petitioning your own BR.

An IVA is legal agreement to pay your creditors a given amount for a set period of time, thus giving you protection from harrassment. Its not binding in the sense that cannot leave work, have children or go BR. Circumstances change and so might pence in the pound for better or for worse, although if the latter is the case the creditors may not agree.

Ps the adverts in the paper are very small and will only be seen by someone who is scanning for them. I cant say I have ever seen one and I have looked a couple of times since joining this site.

I see!

I understand now that i'm not legally obligated to continue working, should I not wish to do so, although i'm sure a court judge probably wouldn't accept "I wanted to stay at home with my baby, sir" as a an acceptable reason lol.

I guess if I was to ever get into a relationship that far along, I'd have to explain my situation, if I continue with my IVA, and i'm assuming if the person had bills of their own, they would be taken into account by the IVA people etc.

I think too much! I'm such a worry bug, i'm sorry.

Dont appologise, I am just trying to help. I didnt go ahead with my IVA mainly because I couldnt work full time due to my own children's needs. I was going to go BR myself.

At present you have no assets so dont think too far ahead, bring up children is one of the most important jobs in your life. It seems that you have been lead to believe you dont have a choice, I am saying that you do. The judge isnt an ogre and the fact that you have tried to go down the IVA route is proof you have tried to address the debt. You have borrowed from your parents which suggests you were finding the IVA hard in any case. I understand how stressful this debt hell is, I have been there.

As I have already said synergi has had bad press on this forum.

You need to think, what is best for you in your circumstances. If you want to end the IVA you can, if you want to stay home and look after your baby you are free to do so.

Thanks ever so much, I will go away and think about things and write it all out on paper etc.

I was considering asking work to go back part time, so maybe that is an option too.

*hugs*
