I completed an iva feb 2015 and have received my coc , however during the iva I got a ccj on a loan that wasn't included in the iva as my ex wife was paying it but then defaulted. This loan has now been repaid and the ccj came off my credit file end of May 2016, I have checked all the credit records and they are now all clear and ratings and score have improved to good.
I now want to now remortgage away from northern rock , can I now go and apply directly to mainstream lenders and which ones are more accommodating of ex ivaers ?
No reason why you can't try now but I suggest you have a word with either Shaun or Ryan (details under the expert link on the left hand side of the page) to see they can assist with the remortgage - they have been very helpful with other posters on here.

There are some main stream lenders who - will not give you a mortgage regardless on when the IVA was. Why dont you speak to both the mortgage brokers on here Ryan and Shaun - to run through your options. I have personally used Ryan company for a recent house move- and by doing that saved a lot of leg work. Both these companies use main stream lenders

I agree that you should seek the help of a broker with experience with adverse credit, such as Ryan and / or Shaun.
Different lenders have different reactions to IVA's and, if you don't hit lucky first time, a few rejections will raise red flags on your credit reports, making lending more difficult.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
An all of market lender is what you need and I believe that Ryan and Shaun are able to accomodate this, they have both helped many posters so why not just pop in an enquiry at least.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Hello all
Thanks for all the advise given to the post.
I am happy to report I managed to bag myself a re-mortgage from a high street lender at normal low rates.Whoop Whoop !! less interest been paid out..more money in my pocket to do stuff..Yeaa..
In the end , there were 3 high street lenders prepared to give me a re-mortgage , the halifax, barclays and tsb.I went with tsb in the end.
Thanks to london and country mortgage brokers who dealt with this for me.
Guys and girls , I wish you all the best at whatever stage you are at with your iva, it can be tough but definately a very bright light at the end of the tunnel after stumbling and hitting the tunnel walls several times before getting there.
Great advise given on the forum , thank you all.
Did you approach them yourselves and explain your circs. Or did you use a whole of market broker? I am looking forward to my IVA coming off my credit file and then I hope to get a new mortgage so that I can buy a bigger house. This is not until June 2017. Congratulations to you.
Well done Ordal - pleased you managed to get a mortgage.
