Can I still become a magistrate and company director with an IVA against my name?

Hi hehuxt

Yes - there is no problem in accepting either appointment, but to become a magistrate you are subjected to a fairly rigourous vetting process, which may be prejudiced against taking on insolvent persons.

This sort of attitude never ceases to amaze me, as people who have recognised that they have a problem and are overtly doing something positive to rectify it, continue in some instances to be viewed as a risk.

In my book you guys would make the best magistrates ever, as you have an understanding of doing the right thing, and would probably judge on a very fair basis. If you have either opportunity available go for it!

It is a very rigorous vetting procedure but it is possible.
Please update this post if you have anything further to report on this matter, I would be very interested to know if you run into any problems whilst applying.

Best of Luck
