Meant to say I have a full bank account with Abbey - this was an accident as the guy applied for the wrong one but hey ho and also I have a CO OP Cashminder account. I have all the DD's going out of the Abbey the branch is closer to home.

Wow Marie, did you say that all in one breath[:D]? I am glad you managed to sort the bank out. It is scary for those of us with a conscience but some people do things like this so easily without even batting an eyelid (my sister being one of them!)[}:)] On a lighter note, hearing all this about NR, its no wonder they are in trouble as no-one wants to pay them![;)] Only joking[:I] I shall go and see if the new bank can hurry my application up by going into the branch tomorrow but I doubt it. If I thought they hadn't run a credit check, I would go to another one and get an instant account, but I think they may have so had better wait. I am sure all will be ok (I am just panic stricken and impatient[:p]) Good luck to you too, thanks for the good wishes Rgrds Kazzy

Kazzy

I attacked it all head on when I had decided.

I too like you have a major issue with my conscience.

My sister sounds like yours too [}:)]

Anyhow, if you are struggling the Abbey if you make an appointment can go through the application and give you an account number there and then. This is what i did. I rang CO OP and they deferred their decision - I panicked and thought Iwas never going to get another account. I then went into the Abbey and they couldn'tsee me at my local branch so I travelled to the next nearest and opened it there - I got the account number the same day. A few days later I got paid and the rest I posted.

It is really scary, I still have days where I get panicked - I'm not really a crier but I have spent about 5-6 weeks crying - not a good look lol [:I] I am really frustrated with myself every little thing and I'm off - annoying. [:I]

Hope everything goes well for you tomorrow. X

Thanks Marie & Barb. I am just like my Dad (god bless him, he's not with us anymore) but he was a born worrier and I am too. The family saying is that we worry about worrying! I know things will be ok but just need reassuring a lot of the time. I would love to be like my hubby, he's attitude is 'they can't have what we haven't got'. So true. Gonna try and get some sleep now ladies, thanks for your support. Kazzy x P.S. Will let you know how I get on with the bank tomorrow. x

I have been making token payments to creditors for last 2 months after writing to them for a breathing space. I am now in process of IVA through Melanies team and after conversations have decided not to pay anybody as from this week until it gets sorted. I don't feel bad about this because having wrote to them politely about my situation and said I would make token payments all but one have been very "not" understanding. I really want to say next time anyone phones (look I would have paid you but its your fault because you have not listened to what I am saying!!!!) - but no I will actually just say - getting sorted through IVA - put phone down politely.

I know it might sound blazay (spelling?) but I really feel I have tried to do the right thing and its doesn't make any difference.

Apologies for any spelling mistakes etc but had a bad day - setting off for a long day of meetings in Leeds and before I got out of the door I fell down the stairs - had to do two very important meetings gradually stiffening up and now black and blue.

Elizabeth,

i hope you are okay! [B)]

I decided not to pay simply for the reason that if the IVA gets accepted then I need the contingency and secondly they don't go easier on you they just pester for more (not that I think they are totally wrong as I borrowed the money). Thirdly I cannot work out the right amount to be fair to all.

I hope you are okay as I said and good luck. XX

I know what you mean about them not being understanding Halifax are a mare!

Oh No! Sorry to hear that Elizabeth. I have left the creditors letters to Melanie's team as they are dealing with it. I will just await the calls and deal with them as and when. My biggest fear is them ringing work, but Melanie says that they don't tend to often and if they do, I will give them their office number.

Hope you feel better tomorrow, Kazzy

The creditors I have spoken to I have told I cannot take calls at work and if they do call me I may lose my job resulting in me having to go bankrupt as I will have no income. They have said they have removed works number and will continue to ring the home number - fine - we'll see here's hoping.

hi

none of my creditors contacted work, so i think you will be ok there!
like marie says if they call at home and they mention work tell them you will lose your job if they contact you there!

it is a worrying and stressful time. i cannot deny i had my low points, but remember we are all on here to support each other, and with each others help and support we will get over one hurdle at a time and then face the next!

try to get some rest hun! good luck at the bank tomorrow, you have nothing to be scared about, the cashier wont even bat an eyelid!

Hey Kazzy, good luck tomorrow. I did all the things you are going to do, I was nervous too, I thought everyone would be suspicious but no one asked any questions and really didn't care! If they call you in work it is only because you have supplied them the number at some point, if you did then you can actually call them yourself and ask them to remove it, I did that and they did, no problem.....and I had missed three payments by then.

Elizabeth, I hope you are ok and not too sore![B)] Viki X

Hi Kazzy,
All my DD's come out today (21st) and on sunday (18th) I cancelled them even though I still hadnt spoken to Melanies team. There was no pont in not cancelling them because I couldnt pay them. The credit I was paying debt with has now run out! When the bank opens I'm going to walk into the bank and withdraw the remaining money (leaving enough in to cover council tax, insurance etc) and deposit the rest in my new account. I've already arranged for both our salaries plus child benefit and child tax credit to go into our new account, the direct debits that I have remaining with the Halifax (i.e. mortgage and essentials), Lloyds have said that they will transfer these for me, so that saves me a headache.
These are the first payments I have missed as well as the other cards and catalogues that have not been paid. I'm terrified and a total coward, so yesterday I unplugged the phone. How bad is that? Hope it doesnt make them mad.

Strangely enough though, I am sleeping better. I guess admitting defeat and putting my hands up has relaxed me!

Still no idea if an IVA is the right path for us (my debt does not reach £15k and hubbies is just over/£24k combined), have even discussed BR as there is no equity in our home (we were a 109% mortgage 2 years ago), so who knows?
What I do know is that we cant pay and I wont let this take a negative effect on my health anymore as it has been.
Talking with Melanies team again today to discuss options.
Let us know how you get on Kazzy.

Hi all, I promised I would update you following my eventful day off! I took everyones advice and went into the branch of the new bank and they opened the account for me there and then. It is a classic plus account with dd's/so's etc, but no overdraft facility and only a SOLO card, but I don't mind as I am going to be CASH ONLY from now on (except my essential dd's of course). I swept my existing bank account and deposited it in my new acc. You were right, the cashiers didn't bat an eyelid. I have also cancelled all my dd's today also and have advised my utilities of my new account details. Phew what a day! I still don't feel good about doing this, but it is certainly a step in the right direction. Now I just await the hounding on the phone, but I have caller display so that's a bonus! Thanks for all your support over the last couple of days. Kazzy x [;)]
