Hello once again, its been a while since I wrote but thought some of you may be interested in how things are progressing with our IVA.

With Melanies help we have now got a date for the creditors meeting. Both Jay (wifey) and I would like to thank Melanie for all the hard work so far.

Jay has been a rock for me throughout the initial form filling and with the whole concept of an IVA.
I often felt like just giving up on life itself but then Jay gave me the strength to carry on.

But every now and then I see her tough side slipping so I tell her that everything will be fine, she then gives me a big smile and we get on with our lives once more.

Moral of all this - draw strength from each other and with Melanie guiding you, everything will fall into place.

Anyway, short and sweet this time, hopefully have more news in a few weeks from now.

Hello everybody
Many thanks to everybody on this site who offered advice on our IVA - especially to Melanie and her team who successfully got our IVA through. It has been a stressfull five months not knowing what the outcome would be but now in five years time we will be debt free - and considering one of our debts would of taken us 37 years to clear at the present rate of repayment, it becomes clear that we did the right thing.
We cannot thank Melanie and her team enough for helping us - at least now we can start to make plans once more and the plans will NOT include credit cards!! Our advice to anybody looking at credit cards is to stop looking - they are not worth it - pay cash whenever you can.

Thanks for all your comments.
As Melanie promised we received the creditors report a few days ago detailing what took place and what bank/building society voted. Our first payment goes out tomorrow, only another 59 to go !!!
I think the only concern we have is a modification with the IVA.
I am in the unfortunate position of working in a small company that has just one component producing machine (brand new) - at a cost of £650,000 - one would expect it not to break down - wrong....
Every time this happens it means the workload falls behind by anything upto 14 days to a month and the customers start getting fidgety!!
I dont do overtime as its seldom required but when the breakdown occurs and then rectified, we are asked to put some extra hours in to try and catch up with the work. This means me getting up at 5.30am for a 7.30 start. My gripe is I cannot justify getting up this early and working for maybe 2 weeks on overtime and then having to give 50% of the extra income to the creditors which is the modification to our IVA. Sadly, I now refuse overtime much to the grating of my guvoners teeth.

One question for anybody who knows the answer, do the statements from the creditors still keep on being delivered and are they meaningless considering we are now in an IVA?

Anyway, the way time is passing by, 59 months will soon be gone.......

All the best to you . With regard to the overtime is it not worth it for that extra bit to maybe enjoy yourself with. Obviously it can depend on if the rate of overtime pay if it is worth doing. We do it but it gives us a few extras we couldnt have, and might add couldnt before the iva as overtime just kept our heads above water, we never got to keep any of it.
Anyway just my opinion and so glad you both feel a lot better than when I originally spoke to you.

You can disregard all creditor statements from now on, but could you send them to me so that we can keep our files up to date and it can assist with the reconciliation of creditor balances.

We have just joined this forum and are also moving to Canada, have been readng lots of posts inc yours and just thought I would see how your Canada plans are going. We have our visas and are looking at the possibility of an IVA also.
