Hi, I'm a South African who work on a work permit and live here in the UK. We just cant affort to live in the UK anymore and have one CCJ. Spectrum Financial Protection are looking after two credit cards. Since then we have a huge overdraught, two credit cards and two store cards. We have to return to South Africa but not sure how we can take care of our dept. We will not be able to make any payments from South Africa since the salary we will be earning if we get jobs is 14 to one pound. Can we declare bankruptsy in the UK and go back to South Africa. We are not UK Citizens. If we can, will the bankruptcy be internasional and affect assets and Bank acounts back in South Africa. We had to sell everything we own here in the UK to pay of dept and money we borrowd from family and friend. Thus we have no assets any more here in the UK. We have noting in South Africa but when we start to work we will have to get a car, will we be able to do this or apply for a morgage? I would like to sort out my debt

Hello qvn and Welcome,

Im sorry to hear about your current situation. The question as to whether you can go bankrupt or not depends on whether you are domicile in the UK or not. Are you domicile? If you are I believe you could petition for bankruptcy and then go back to SA.
