The electorate register is one source of ID, your driving licence and Passport are also valid. The co op eschews common sense practice for some tomfoolery approach in identifying you?? I had only been on the registered for 4 mths and had no Bank account decline because of...not been on the electorate register.

This ethical Bank is obtuse

I don't have a problem with the Co-op expecting someone to be on the electoral register - I think it's the logical way of checking someone's address. What about people who don't have a driving licence or passport?

Exactly skippy, cant ever see a need to not be on the electoral register so it makes sense as one of there checks.
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Their is the Yorkshire Building Society Cash Transactor account, it is a savings account, but it allows you to setup direct debits and standing orders:

http://www.ybs.co.uk/savings/easy_acces ... /index.jsp

And the Abbey, sometimes they accept Undischarged Bankrupts and sometimes they dont, I think Julian from the Bankruptcy forum has one of these accounts. Im in an IVA, and I have one, basic cash card account but it gets reviewed regularly.

Or their is a prepaid card.

Hope that helps

As far as I'm aware the only banks who accept undischarged bankrupts at the moment are the Co-op and Barclays - I've read that Abbey will close an account once they are notified of the BR.

Hi M15 Well Done!

But do have a look at the Yorkshire Building Society account, as it would allow you to setup direct debits and standing orders.

Hi
I think you should be ok, its a savings account, and they dont credit score, but I would check just to make sure.

I've been turned down for savings accounts because I was bankrupt so I would agree that it's definitely worth checking.

Hi Give them a call on:
0845 1 200 100

I enquired ages ago, and was ok to open account but I was in an IVA.

You do need £100 to open the account, however you can withdraw this later.

Good Luck
