Hi all
I completed my IVA via an early final payment April last year. It was due to finish in February 2013. I cannot seem to get a clarified answer as to when my credit file will be "clear" so to speak. 5 or 6 years from the date of the IVA being taken out, and if there any alteration to this date baring in mind I ended the IVA early and by agreement. I managed to pay off quite a high percentage of .70p in the £1 and I am also being hounded by people asking me to claim back PPI, which seems a little wrong on the basis that I didnt pay the whoel amount of debt back. However it would come in handy with the house deposit I am trying to save for when I am able to apply for a mortgage. Can anyone recommend a company to look into this for me? Finally, is there life after an IVA, when and who would anyone recommend with regards to getting a mortgage. Sorry I know its a lot of questions in one go!!!!!!

Hi Zo welcome to the forum.

Your IVa is on your credit file 6 years fmo the date is was accepted regardless of an early settlement date.

When you say you are being hounded do you mean by your IVa company or PPI companies? Make sure you do not have any commitment via your IVA to pursue PPI claim for your creditors - your IP will be able to clarify that for you.

If you do not have any outstanding commitment to your creditors then any PPI claim would be yours to keep and as you say would come in handy.

There is definitely life after the IVA and I'm sure posters will come on here and let you know about that! They will also be able to give you details of mortgage contacts based on their experience. You can have a look at the experts page for useful contacts too. You will still have some difficulties with getting a mortgage whilst the IVa is on your credit file but it depends on what timescales you were thinking of.

Best wishes.

We have two mortgage experts on the forum Ryan and Shaun, why not contact them to talk through options. Their details can be found in the Ask experts a question link to the left.

I feel there is life after the IVA so hang in there it will all come together, just takes time.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
