Hi all, I need some advice.

I have been offered a new job with a considerable pay rise (approx £7k). I won't be starting it until Feb time (our BR is discharged in February too).

The problem is, I need to be totally flexible in my hours, so we will definately need a second car.

Is HP finance out of the question for anyone that has just been discharged? Or can anyone offer any advice/companies to talk to?

I don't want to take on finance if I could avoid it, but unfortunately it is a chicken/egg problem, as I need the car for the job, but need the pay from the job first to buy the car... argh! [:D]

I could raise a deposit of £500 or so if needed from family to help us if needs be.

Hi Wen, hope you're ok. Great news about the job, congratulations. I believe www.secretariatservices.net lease cars without a credit check, but I'm not sure about HP. I'm sure someone else will be able to advise you. Good luck for your new job. [:)] X

Thank you very much Viki!

Lease/Hire/HP, whatever is available. Even if it is something short-term until I can build up a few months to pay to buy something outright.

Give them a call, the home page doesn't mention cars but I know some forum members have used them for car lease. Melanie knows of a firm too but I think she's away so not sure when she can post. Hope you get something sorted. X

Congratulations on the new job Wen!

I seem to remember Chardonnay used a company to lease a new car, so it might be worth having a look through her posts.

Hi Wen. Just a thought. You say that you could raise a deposit from family. Is there anyone in the family that would take on the HP agreement for you and you could pay it each month? The car would then ultimately be yours and any APR would be based on their credit history and not yours.

My husband had just got a car with Bell Hire its long term car hire. His credit is terrible but some one on here said to give them a go, they just needed a moth deposit and hewill then hire it for 12 months. Our contact was Jemma. You might want to[:I] google them and take a look.
On the slow safe road to success. Personal thanks to Melanie Giles Kallis Skippy Elv5 and all the other wonderful forum friends.

Hi Melanie, I have emailed you through the website, so hopefully you'll get that!

Michael, it is a possibility, but I would only rather use that as a last resort.

Kabby, do they report on your credit history? If we are going to do some sort of deal that is going to cost a bit in a higher APR, I would hope it would get reported to my credit report!
