As a matter of interest - does the OR do a check with the DVLA regarding cars? My car isn't in my name so how would they know I've got it? Not that I would try and hide it, although some of my friends have suggested doing so!

I'm not quite sure why your friends suggest you should 'try and hide it'
If you are not the registered keeper, the car is not in your name and strictly speaking, it is not yours. I would say that you have the use of the car but are not the owner.
Where you may fall fowl is if any of your creditors are loan creditors were you have specified on the loan application that the loan is for a car.
Has the car ever been in your name?

Tell it like it is.
Tell it like it is.

Hi SadSteph, whatever you do, don't try to hide anything from the OR! They are sure to find out, and it could lead to a restriction order.

There is a section on the form where you can declare whether you have use of any vehicle. If it was me completing the forms I would say that I do not own a car, but I have use of one.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Is there any reason why the car is not registered in your name?

The best way forward is to be as up front and honest as possible with the OR. You should have nothing to hide in regards to the car because it as it is not in your name and therefore not your asset.

Do you pay the expenses for this car?
