Credit checks are done but the scoring depends on the financial product. It may be that the amount of points are not very high as it is insurance and not large loan or credit card. Hopefully, it won't have a massive effect on car insurance application. I did contact my insurers when I filed br and they said it didn't matter....so that may be a good sign,

Kirsty

If you will e-mail me the names of the Insurers that are of interest to you. I will enquire of them in my name whether they offer monthly payments to someone in an IVA, and if so, on what terms.

If other Forum Members care to do the same, I will keep the responses available in the future.

Thankyou john will do as this will possibily be a problem for house insurance too, luckily I did my renewal for that before my IVA was approved.

Hi All

I have just completed the online application with the AA via moneysupermarket.

I went with the pay monthly option and only had to pay a deposit of £28. Everything seems to of been accepted as I recieved a confirmation number and details of when my car insurance starts and ends.

I think I will not cancel my renewel on my other insurance yet though, just in case. I have got until 30th May before my new insurance starts and I have to cancel my old one.

Hi all,

Last year i changed my insurance and couldn't afford to pay it one go so did it on monthly installments on DD, and it all went through without a problem and no questions asked.

It is due again early in June and mine has gone up over £130 as i have moved and its a higher rated area so looked around to save and can get it with Kwik Fit quite a lot less so will see what happens when i apply.

Thanks for all your positive replies, think I may be being over dramatic reading all the small print and worrying about getting refused.

Hi
I think that the credit checks are to confirm your address and identity, not your credit history.
The premiums are paid in such a way that if you miss a payment they just cancel your insurance and as they have taken a two month deposit off you,at the start, their risk of losing any money is very small

Andy

Ref your post, some Insurers like for instance Endsleigh use a firm called Premium Credit. The insurer provides an annual premium, Premium Credit providesm a loan to pay this, repaid over a year.

I found driving my Fiesta into the back of an Audi and writing both cars off cost my insurance company a lot - at least it wasn't the Porsches!
