Hi,

Trying to find cheapest way of getting some gifts for Xmas whilst of course maintaining my IVA payments, I have seen a very good voucher to use on a certain website but it can only be used if you set up a credit account (albeit 0% interest).

Now, I know that if I tried I would probably be rejected, but in any case would an IVA generally let you even have such an account? And, this got me to thinking, would you be allowed to set up a monthly type payment arrangement with a catalogue?

Thanks
Chris

Hi,

No, you wouldn't be allowed to set up a credit account with a catalogue. Some of them do set you up with one but you can pay cash and hen cancel it.

most of these catalogues expect you to pay it a bit each week, hence the credit, but if you order online with some places and pay it there and then would they still set you up with an account or would it be classed as just a single payment.

I get the park vouchers, but a friend is the agent and I pay her by standing order. have done it three years running now and it certainly helps with knowing I haven't got to find the cash.

Some of them do set you up with an account, but if you pay in full and tell them you don't want an one then it will be cancelled.

That is of course if they will agree to one!
