Hi all. I've had a few people round in the last few weeks offering free wall and loft insulation as past of the government wanting to lower emissions. I have heard of this but assumed the grants would only be to part cover the costs. I was assured that even though I have a good job I would qualify for this. I haven't had any additional insulation put in for the 7 years I've lived here and it could certainly do with it. I asked the bloke to leave me his number and I'd be in touch. Has anyone else been offered this and gone ahead with it? I don't want to go ahead and then find out it's only partly funded. It just seems too good to be true.

My MIL's neighbour has had cavity wall and loft insulation fitted free of charge very recently but unfortunately I don't know their financial circumstances x

I think I'm tempted to ring him and get him to put it in writing that it won't cost me a thing [:D]

I had loft insulation and cavity wall insulation in January this year. I work full time and am not entitled to any benefits so like you was sceptical about the 'free' aspect of it. It really is free and I now have 18" of loft insulation and cavity walls full of recycled newspaper (or whatever it is they blow into there).
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

We had ours done some years ago and it's been great - we really save on our utility bills.

Can only have loft insulation but I've made an enquiry online and received an email saying someone will call me. Let's hope they do. x

We can't have anything as we're in a downstairs maisonette and we have solid walls. If anyone would like to give me a grant for a new front door that would be great as we can see daylight through ours!

If you lived closer Skippy then maybe hubby could help as often they go into new houses with new doors and take them off and skip them as they're not the right ones, we got all our new worktop from a house just like that! His boss said he could have it so long as he wasn't going to sell it and obviously we didn't he can see it if he comes round.

Crazy world of building regulations!
