Have to say that eating healthily actually costs us less.

There should be no 'guidelines'. As long as we can prove our expenditure, then we should allowed to claim what is necessary.

They are not available online they are something your IP works with and are distributed to them. See other thread running about revised guidelines xx

Put down exactly what you spend. The creditors can only say no.

We are going through the drafting stage with the cccsva and i do understand about not displaying the figures, because i guess everyone would just want to max everything out.

I agree that you should be able to tell your IP what you truly pay out and if its over their guide line than as long as you can provide some sort of proof that that is what you spend your IP should put that foward. Its important that the creditors or voters start to understand that everybody has different circumstances and the creditors perhaps need to show a little bit more trust in the IP's judgement when they present each case to them.

Yes the creditors are trying to recoup as much of their money back as poss but surley the ONLY way IVA's can work is if each case has the right budget for them to live on for the IVA to work?

What would be fair is for people to know what they can claim category wise,ie dry cleaning and haircuts, newspapers etc I believe can all be claimed.
No need for people to know what amounts they can claim but I think many forum users realise too late that they could have had an allowance for X or Y but they didnt know until it was too late.

This is why you should put down all those little incidentals - better they are down and you either get told no, or have the amounts cut down than not mention them at all.

Many people think they are doing themselves a favour though by missing out little incidentals and agreeing to a budget they cannot maintain. I really dont think this change to the figures will have any real bearing on peoples IVA's.

This highlights the importance of getting quality advice at an early stage from insolvency practitioners who understand the importance of affordability and sustainability.

As I know only too well! I was thinking about my IVA the other day and I came to the conclusion that even if I'd stuggled on I would have most probably ended up BR when I had my pay cut 18 months ago due to the modifications in my IVA.

An idea of the headings we can claim for would be really helpful as a guideline on preparing our I&E. I was told initially that I couldn't claim for hairdressing but will try for this every year as it is ridculous to class this as a luxury. I also spend a lot of my food budget (£20+ per month) on dry cleaning and shoe repairs as I am very short on workwear so will include this next year.

I have a small medical allowance of £21pm but at my last dental appointment was told I needed extensive work which I have put off as there isn't the money to pay for it. Can I claim for dental insurance? There are no NHS dentists in London anymore and I have been two years on a pre-waiting list to get on the waiting list!!
