Has anyone had any experience of the CCCS? I have been put in contact with a fee based Company (Vincent Bond) but I have also been informed that the CCCS don't charge fee's and therefore I could pay off my debts quicker. Looking on the CCCS website, I pay them a lump sum and they distribute to my creditors - the same as a fee based company would do. Or would the CCCS be slightly more hassle for me?

Hi,

I was with a fee paying firm for my DMP and had no problems with them at all, the creditors froze interest and charges from day one.

With CCCS it is the creditors who pay the fees, so whilst you will pay across 100% of your debts, the creditors will receive slightly less because of this.

Vincent Bond have an excellent reputation for Debt Management.

You could also consider Payplan as they don't charge either.

The choice is yours as to which way you go.

The CCCS are funded by creditors whereas DMP companies deduct a fee. You may have more of a service in getting interest stopped with a feepaying service as it is in their interest to do so. It is really down to you as I cannot speak for the CCCS or know how much work they do in the event of legal action. At least with a feepaying service you can complain if interest and charges continue or a creditor tries to register a charge against your property. This may more than compensate for any fee charged.

In my husband's charity work he has come across three people with Vincent Bond - they appear to be first rate and put up a real fight for their clients. J

Both are very reputable organisations. Why not try both and compare the services - in particular how they assess your disposable income and the timescale they advise it will take you to clear your debts. One key factor to look for it the level of personal service each firm can provide to you - as you will need them to assist you not just now but well into the future as well.

Thanks for all your comments, I am coming out in favour of Vincent Bond, but Melanie's suggestion sound sensible. Thank you!

Hi Bird
I agree with the guys on this one and in particular about comparing non fee charging companies and fee charging. It is certainly worth investigating. One point to note, if you want to speak to the CCCS you may not be able to get a full assessment for a few weeks as they are very busy.

Thanks
