Doh!!!

Been a bit of a blithering idiot. Our IVA is 6 years old in March and probably due to end a year later at the latest (couldn't get the remortgage to raise £10,500 equity release)unless our house sells in the meantime.
Anyway got into a few minor difficulties with Water board. Nothing which couldn't have been normally sorted out very simply however I'm afraid the timing was pretty bad for me. Been through hell the past few months with a few family issues (well you can't choose them can you?) and a disciplinary investigation hanging over me at work - I was cleared eventually : ) - but I took my eye off the ball and well before I knew it, I have been landed with a CCJ.
I can take the solicitor's fees on the chin that's fine. I got so wrapped up in family and work issues that everything else took a back seat. My fault, nobody elses. What I am concerned about is whether it have an adverse effect on my IVA. I am happy to make an offer of payment (contingency amount) and submit my I & E to the solicitors firm.
Should I just go ahead and do that or have I dropped a seriously huge b****k??

I think a simple explanation to your IP should suffice. However, for your own good I would try and get the water board paid quickly and the CCJ will not remain on record. Your IP may allow a short payment break to allow this and the payment can be added on to the end of the IVA.

Speak to your IP and I am sure you will be able to sort something out.

I won't be in a position to pay quickly. 6 to 10 months I wouls say. I'm not really ruffled about CCJ being on record. After all, the IVA will be on record for 6 years after it ends anyway.
Is there really much point explaining anything to IP if payment terms are accepted? I did take a 2 month payment break early in my IVA but that has been repaid now so I guess there is scope to request another but on the other hand, each month feels like a month too long now. I have been told 14 more months max and that's it

Your IVA would be on record for 6 years after the day it was originally accepted.
I really think you should discuss this with your IP and see what he/she suggests.

Lisa is right, and the only thing you need to check afterwards (apart from your CCJ) is that any defaults posted after the date of acceptance have been removed.

How do you end up with such a high water bill - are you sure that the charges are correct?

It's fixed. We don't have meters here (more's the pity). Haven't paid anything since July. Cheekily cancelled DD for a month to free up a little more cash for a Wedding do out of town and well, lets just say a few unrelated things came crashing down not long after and it just got forgotten about

I think that you ought to explain to the water authority that you are in an IVA, and try to come to some form of repayment arrangement with them directly.

I think to talk to the Water Board as Melanie suggests is a good idea and maybe explain to your IP.

All the best x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
