I got made banktupt in late 2004 and was discharged around 6 months afterwards.

My credit rating is still in a mess and I cannot even open a current account with any banks.

I recently checked my equifax credit file and it lists defaults and a CCJ that were supposed to be anulled by teh bankruptcy.

I have spoke to people in the past and they mention purchasing a 'certificate of bankrupty' from the court and then sending copies of this to equifax.

However, I spoke to an equifax customer service agent today and she said that these details will sit on my file for 6 years post bankruptcy.

Is it the case that I will have to forgo any kind fo service that involves a prior credit check until that 6 year period is over?

I am self-employed and I would like to acquire a PDQ machine and merchant account. At the moment this seems unlikely.

Also I cannot get anything other than a basic account with many banks.

I am also soon looking to move into rented property but am sure that the same problem will occur.

Anyways, some advice will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
L

Hi Lyndon and welcome to the forum

Yes - your bankruptcy details are registered for 6 years as a matter of course.

Hi
Yes your CCJ and defaults will be on your file until 6 years from when they are registered and there is realy nothing that you can do about that.
