Thank you. I agree, its so useful to keep coming on here and share information. its very reassuring to speak to people who are going through the same thing. No one apart from me and my husband knows about our IVA in the real world, and I think I would have gone crazy if it wasn't for this forum! I'm on here all the time at the moment checking for updates!

I know any savings accounts with a balance would be seen as an asset prior to IVA commencement but will now go along and read the thread mentioned.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I for one am a great believer that your allowances are yours to do with as you see fit. But I still want to avoid any difficulties.
The savings is something else... I don't know where the thresholds lie.
I load money into prepay credit cards. I have several for different things. You can build them up and then use them as you see fit, the bank statement will show nothing but an amount going to a prepay card. What happens to it then is your business alone.
Prepay credit cards are not bank accounts nor are they credit. Nor are they savings accounts or anything like that. They are beneath the radar and as good as cash.
I went away abroad for a week last year without a trace. Bank account clean as a whistle. It was a super cheap break but I felt it best kept on the down low.
Ps. I do not think I did anything wrong. It was saved for gradually from my share of overtime and skimping on other things in the allowances. I just wanted to avoid any questions.

well, they're certainly doing themselves no favours in the popularity poll are they? Absolutely blooming ridiculous not being able to have a savings account, so basically everything is in your current account...surely somewhere along the line they're wrong! Is Greg an IP?

The clarification needs to come from an IP as if Greg isn't an IP then I fear he's very mistaken in respect of a 'normal' savings account that has money in it for allowances and your share of anything post IVA commencement date.

Im sorry if caused yet more worry but this seemed to get overlooked previously but has really been plaguing me since i read it. We save from allowances and selling old toys/clothes the kids grow out of. They have no right to claim that as an asset...its sensible responsible banking which an iva is meant to teach us else will fall into credit territory again when things need buying!!!! Im glad its been raised and i hope there is confirmation from our IP. To be denied a savings account is ludicrous.

Woah, woah WOAH. What the actual ****?
I have a separate savings account which I set up once my IVA commenced. Any of my surplus I'm allowed to keep goes into that account to keep it separate from my day-to-day account. It's money I've been allowed to retain (10, 50/50) so why the hell should it matter if I have it in a separate account or even in cash under the mattress for that matter?
I have another account which my longer-term requirements go into such as saving for car tax, servicing, MOT and the like. Again, this is to ensure that I keep a separate 'pot' for motoring-related expenses (and a new tyre following a puncture on Thursday was just such an example!).
I'm getting SERIOUSLY ****ed off with all the bull**** coming from CreditFix. Setting aside my share of the uplift is just plain common sense - in fact, it's EXACTLY THE KIND OF PRUDENCE THAT THE IVA IS DESIGNED TO TEACH ME.
If they think they're getting their paws on that pot too they can **** off.

This is just appalling, I think we need to get some clarity on this from the IP and if this is the case we need to be really thinking about making a complaint.

Im so glad i raised this now if you all missed it. I know its caused yet more stress but im glad im
not only one whos mad beyond words. Closed her email account??? WTF??? We are allowed a savings sccount arent we?? I mean i distinctly recall mel advising us to and i reckon ive got email to confirm. She said monthly allowances for annualthings should be saved for emergencys. This is surely budgetting and preventing further decline into using credit???

Greg is the creditfix rep on here. I emailed him about a few things, and thats what he told me. It doesnt seem right at all though. I went back to him and said what about the things that have to be paid for annually like dentists and car repairs and he insisted that savings accounts are an asset....
Almost done now, I'm sure either Michael sais hed had clients use their legitimate share of bonuses to offer a F&F and they were accepted? How can they let us keep a share of a bonus, but then go back a few months later and say that it needs to be paid in to the IVA?
We all know this is not correct. I'm sure theres no way theyd get away with it
