I AM IN THE PROCESS OF STARTING AND IVA AND HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THAT OUR CONTRACTS WILL NOT BE RENEWED AT WORK AS THEY USUALLY ARE. THIS MEANS I AM OUT OF A JOB AT THE END OF OCTOBER.

I HAVE APPLIED FOR JUST ABOUT ANYTHING GOING IN ORDER TO STAY AFLOAT AND TO ENABLE ME TO CONTINUE WITH THIS, SHOULD I DELAY EVERYTHING OR JUST ADMIT TO BANKRUPTCY, WHICH TERRIFIES ME.

PLEASE HELP, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW

Hi Freelili,

Sorry to hear about your loss of employment, my advice is that you hold off on your IVA process until you are offered a job.

An IVA will definitely be rejected in the "hope" of you finding work, due to the instability etc.

I know that it is hard but keep applying for jobs and eventually something will come up.

Hope this information is of use

I HAVE TO TRAVEL 25 MILES TO WORK. IVE APPLIED FOR ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE BUT I WILL HAVE TO TAKE A DROP IN PAY. I HAVE BEEN OFFERED BANK WORK BUT ITS JUST NOT SECURE. I NEED TO GET THESE CREDITORS OFF MY BACK SO I WOULD TAKE ANYTHING, ONE THING DOES IT HAVE TO BE PERMANENT CONTRACT?

God morning,

When you think about all the bills you have to pay and all those who depend upon your income, it’s very easy to panic. The uncertainty of the future can be very overwhelming.

When you loose your job, you might panic because things seem out of control. As tempting as that may be, don’t panic because you will need a clear mind to focus on your future.

It is good to see that you accepted your situation and trying to find a solution. There is no point staying in a state of disbelief and denial.

As soon as you get the motivation, start a job search campaign. Update your CV, do some research on the internet, look up information about current job listings and post your CV online.

Always remember, “Every exit from somewhere is an entrance somewhere else.”

All the best

I meant Good morning...

Regarding your IVA, I suggest you put it on hold until you are offered a permanent job.

Best of luck

HI

THAMKS FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. I AM TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE AND AM TRYING TO LOOK FOR WORK. I AM GOING TO OPEN A NEW, NO FRILLS BANK ACCOUNT FOR THE FUTURE AND WHEN I GET SORTED WITH A JOB PROCEED WITH THE IVA. THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE IS REALLY SCARY BUT I DONT FEEL AS BAD AS I DID BEFORE JOINING THIS FORUM, EVEN THOUGH MY SITUATION HAS GOT WORSE.

HI DOMANIC

THANKS WILL CHECK IT OUT, HAVE RECIEVED A NUMBER OF INTERVIEWS IN THE POST SO ITS LOOKING GOOD.

TOLD PROVIDENT TODAY ABOUT SITUATION AND INTENTION FOR IVA. SHE SAID THAT THEY WILL NOT DEAL WITH THIS AND THEY ONLY MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH DEBTORS DIRECTLY, ALSO SOMEONE FROM THE COMPANY WOULD KEEP CALLING AT MY HOUSE TO KEEP A CHECK ON WHAT I CAN AFFORD TO PAY THEM. I REFUSED TO PAY ANYTHING TODAY, WHAT SHOULD I DO, CAN ANYONE HELP?

PS THEY TOOK MY MOTHERS NUMBER WHEN I TOOK OUT THE LOAN, SHE SAID THEY WOULD USE THIS ALSO AND THAT I HAVE TO DISCLOSE TO THEM WHEN I FIND ANOTHER JOB. IVE NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT ON THE LOAN BUT LAST WEEKS CHEQUE BOUNCED.

ARE THEY JUST TRYING TO SCARE ME INTO PAYING?

GRATEFUL FOR ANY HELP WITH THIS

They are using strong arm tactics........

I think the Provident representitive has miss-understood... what they wont do is deal with debt management companies. If your IVA is agreed they have no choice but to deal with it.

The number they took from your mother is generally used for trace purposes. Under the Data Protection Act - Provident are not able to discuss the performance of your account with anybody other than you - not even your mother. Nor are they entitled to contact your mother unless she expressly signed and agreed to that in the contracts. What Provident and some other subprime lenders use the numbers for is the embarrasment factor.

Once your IVA is in place they are no longer entitled to approach you directly or come to the house and generally don't.
