Some of you may have read some of my other posts and are aware of the nature of my uppety and downetty stuff at the moment. However, my 3rd payment already comes out tomorrow and it's all good. I have informed my IP about changes in circumstances with regard to moving into a keyworker home next year, as the one i am currently in will be demolished. I have been informed of the increase in rent and the fact that i will liable for paying council tax. I have worked out that my disposable income will almost completely swallowed up by this and the increase in rent. What is likely to happen to my IVA ? Should i worry about it when the time comes and just enjoy making every effort to pay my contributions as they are(530)?

Hey quark, what did your IP say? If you know that you will not be able to make it past next year, I'm not sure if it's the best move to carry on. Maybe Melanie or Ian can advise you. X

It's all well and good feeling really good about another payment made toward the IVA, in reality i'm quite b*****ed as from next September, and i am determined not to be homeless. Still in the meantime it really does feel good to be able to prove that i am able to pay something back, even if it's £6000 or so.

Quark, remember that the money you are paying now will be covering your IP's fees and not going to the creditors. By the time you can't pay any payments next year, there still might not be enough to pay creditors so you won't have paid them anything.

Quark, don't do it on my advice though as I'm not a professional. You really need to talk to your IP. Hang in there for Melanie or Ian to advise you too.

All we can do is to advise you to share these concerns with your own IP. They will want to help you where they can, and at the end of the day if you cannot continue to make the payments then there is no point in making your life miserable in trying to.

Hi Quark,
Everyone is right. Talk to your IP now and find the right solution for you - if you just keep plodding with no agreed final outcome yourstress levels and ups and downs will increase. We've all had our individual problems and needed changes here and there, the only way to deal with it is meet it head on and get discussions started.
Am thinking of you and sending every positive vibe I can muster for a good resolution with home security for you,
Chardonnay x

Talk to your IP Quark. There is no point in making the payments for the next year knowing that you won't be able to carry on past that point. Your health is the most important thing here, and if you need to go BR to give yourself a fresh start and cut down on the stress then so be it.

Thanks Skip, Melanie and Chardonnay. What a massive saga this is turning out to be. i have all the details of the rent increases etc, from the housing trust that will be taking over as landlord from next September, right now the hospital i work at is the landlord. I'm going to write a letter to the IP even though they have already made a note on my file. Apart from being completely transparent at this stage, i don't see there is anything else i can do until i receive a reply.

Hmm, ok, a £220 increase in rent and including council tax means in theory i can put £300 or around about into my IVA. That's a reduction from £524.

At least you can still make a reasonable payment to them Quark.

I hope you manage to get this sorted soon so you can stop worrying!

I wish at this point i could 100% confirm the move to the new place. I went to see the accomodation officer this morning, and there is still uncertainty about which blocks will move in first etc etc. My block turns out to be the last one to be demolished, so i might move in phase 1 when it's completed, or phase 2 18 months later. It's a right pain, and of course, this does nothing to help settle into the IVA. It feels so fabulous that today all my bills have been paid, including my IVA and what is left over should be enough to keep me on the road, learning to budget and financially rehabilitate. It will be tight though.
