You find a lot of the time that if you ring up, the it will be accepted.

Daughter had to do that with Direct Line for her car insurance and had no problems.

As they are the only completely BR and IVA friendly bank they may well have a backlog!

It would probably be worth giving them a call - when I opened my account a couple of years ago everything was done on the system, but someone forgot to press the button to send anything to me! Once I'd spoken to them I had everything within a couple of days.

Skippy - you recommended Co-Op for my son in place of HSBC who just wanted to get him into debt - just to let you know they have been great with him - besides the cheque book and debit they have opened up a separate deposit account so when he is at Uni all monies are paid into the deposit and transferred to current as he spends. They will take me on too - no problem they said - "we appreciate people get into difficulty sometimes" What an attitude!

Good luck Merrypotter!

Elv, I'm glad things have worked out for your son. The Co-op are really good (especially as their car insurance is £140 cheaper than my renewal!) and my only criticism is that they won't allow me a savings account as I failed their credit check, but that's no big deal as I got one somewhere else.

That's great news Elv - glad you have been sorted out by the Co-op. They really are good aren't they?

Yes they are - if one can do it why can't the others? Read that the co-op have 14% of UK millionaires as clients!

Paul and David, glad your accounts have all been sorted out ok.

I've heard good things this week about the new Co-op card. I might have to seriously think about changing.

Either it's a Visa debit or a Visa Electron, I can't see how you can have a dressed up version of one or the other.

Personally I'm happy with the Co-op and have gone back to them despite having a full account with Nationwide - the Co-op customer service is better, and that's important to me. I've only ever had my Visa Electron refused by Marks and Spencer online, and more and more places are accepting Electron. And best of all it's free!
