Not for me as I have already sorted mine. I posted the other day about my sister who is in difficulty and she has spoken to a DM Company and looks promising for her. She needs to change banks - she is with Nat West and I can't remember from when I was doing this what banks she could try that don't do credit checks when you open. I went to TSB for my new account and they did credit check. Any recommendations?

I just opened an account with Co-op. Cashminder account. You get an electron card, internet banking, SO and DD's etc.

Basic bank account which is just what I need. Only problem is they dont have too many branches.

Don't forget though Flush, that less branches means less opportunities to try and sell you stuff you don't need!!! You can also use the Post Office for all your cash deposits etc so, in a way, they have more branches than you may realise.

Ahh good point size... forgot about the PO's.

I have to say that so far I am very happy with them. Good service, answer the phone quick and very helpful.

Our nearest co op is 40 miles way but I have never needed to go into a branch anyways. Good account,no frills, but everything I need. If I pay a CHQ into the PO it is usually credited onto my account within 3-4 days. No faults so far.
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Halifax would be ok if you prefer, as long as you have no debt with them. The account to ask for there, I believe, is an Easycash account.

I have an websaver account with the Halifax, had it about a yr now and recently I applied for an Easycash account and was refused due to failing their credit checks so it looks like Halifax are also changing their views towards IVA's even for the basic account.

I have a Co-op Cashminder and I'm really pleased with it. I do all my banking online, and when I've had to phone customer services they've been excellent. On the rare occasion I've got anything to pay into my account I use the local Post Office - it's paid into the Post Office on Saturday and is cleared into my Cashminder account by Wednesday or Thursday.
