I'm planning a food hamper for someone hoping to do most of this from buy 1 get 1 free etc. I have a big wickerwork basket that I can use to make it look good, I think anyway

We had a hamper from a family member last year, it was luxury goods so we really enjoyed it (hubby had to eat all of the chocolates though!!!).

I'm afraid I buy my calendars - I have specific themes I like so always go for them.

Everyone else is pretty much getting vouchers or clothing bought with M&S vouchers I have.

All good ideas, my Mum would like a calender, might have a look at that.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

You see unfortunately, all my family have expensive tastes, wouldn't appreciate anything home made and would never appreciate anything bought from 'cheap shops', they would rather have nothing, so I have had to save like mad all year to afford things from Next, La Senza etc etc, I would love to be able to get bargains for my family but they are very specific in what they want (my sister has asked for leather gloves from next, I couldn't get her a cheaper version as she would just give them away so there's no point)

I haven't got much left to get actually, still waiting for ideas for my brothers kids who haven't written their lists yet, the trouble with them is they always want stuff from the net which then charge you £5 delivery aswell, added on to the cost of the item it starts mounting up!, hubby's parents want a bird feeder, they had some lovely ones in Home Bargains last year that were about £15 but I haven't seen them this year

Some of my family are like that which is why I do the surveys so they can have vouchers for expensive shops. They appreciate that money is a bit tight and of course it doesn't cost me anything but time.

I also have the problem of having four birthdays in December, all of which require a present.

My parents always have money as there is nothing else they need or want. They give us money as well so basically it's a swap!!!!! I wish they would just say that they wouldn't bother so we could say the same.

I am so pleased that my family don't do pressies!!! Just buy for my sisters children. I just wouldn't be able to afford it now in an IVA.

It means I don't get anything but that's fine by me - I just go to the sales and treat myself in Jan (or Boxing Day as they all start as soon as you've eaten your Xmas dinner!). Last year I was confined to bed recovering from an operation and I was on the Boots website at midnight Xmas Eve/ Xmas Day ordering half price gift sets!!! Still using the stuff now.

I think I've decided what I'm getting everyone:

Mum - Harry calendar, M & S voucher and biscuits
Dave's mum - Flower calendar, biscuits and whatever Dave decides to get for her
Uncle & partner - Flower calendar, M & S voucher and biscuits
Friend (only one we buy for) - Harry calendar, biscuits and either bath stuff or voucher
Godchildren - pyjamas from M & S
Dave - money

Dave children and granchildren are down to him to buy for, so I think I'm sorted!

Skippy - the most important thing is, what are you getting Harry?

I'm starting to look for little presents for him - catnip cushions and other toys. He's got a lot of toys already though and prefers one brand of catnip (not that he's fussy!) so it's a bit difficult. What do you get the cat who's got everything?!?!

Our dogs have edible goodies. I get the local pet shop to make me up a box for each of them. No toys though as Topsy is the only one who bothers playing with them.

Hey guys could you please share your views regarding christmas gift Ideas for buying something reasonable. I am able to make gifts this year to my nephew and being blessed with some gift money to spend i am seeking good christmas ideas on things that would make good Christmas gifts to buy for this coming holiday season. Keeping in mind my limits i have demarcated my affordability with in £ 100 and jst avoid lending my self into expensive bills while buying a gift for her.

I am not looking to buy anything in bulk but something which could be reasonably purchased as a gift for her and i have been tempted to buy a smartphone or some gadget like ipod after having a look over here **link removed** as those little figures seems really good and i will highly appreciate your recommendations as well.

Hi Carly. I scored a hit by buying my other half a Kindle. I am sure she has become surgically attached to it !! And, with careful shopping, she has managed to get loads of good books for 99 pence each, and even free, from Amazon's book club.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
