I'm pretty sure that Skippy had two cashminder accoumnts with the Co-op as they wouldn't let her open a savings account.

Give them a whirl.

They can only say no.

Jan's right, I've got 2 Cashminder accounts. One is for my spending money and petrol and the other one has all my direct debits and standing orders coming out of it.

I've also got a Nationwide account that I use for my shopping money and I've found this system works quite well for me.

I must be bonkers but I pay £16 per month for a Barclays Additions Plus Current Account which I have had for 2 years now - Benefits are Hassle & Glitch Free Banking(so far!), Comprehensive RAC Cover, Domestic Emergency Cover(£1000), Mobile Phone Insurance, Extended Warranty for Electrical Goods that are paid for with my Visa Debit Card, Free Will Writing Service (!), Accidental Death Benefit (£7500), Free Legal Helpline & Worldwide Travel Insurance (But I won't be using that anytime soon - Ha !) - it's an all in one package which is no longer available to new customers! I am happy with it though and have used some of the services!

I have no objection to those sorts of accounts Pelder, and I would love it if the Co-op would let me have one! My objection is paying to do my day to day banking, and even worse paying to get my own money from a cashpoint!

Dave has a Natwest Advantage Gold account and it's saved us getting travel insurance and he's used a few of the other bits.

Am I right in thinking you have to apply over the phone or in person for the co-op account?

IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

That's right for the cashminder account.

I had a similar account with HSBC and did object to paying for things which I would never use.

I sort out my own breakdown insurance, never take out electrical insurance, and if I did, I'd sort my own out. Hubby will be more than adequately covered if I pop my clogs, and £7.5k if he went accidentally (not too likely - his heart disease will do for him) wouldn't do me a lot of good.

I'll stick with my free, no frills, banking I think.

It would be worth it for me as I'd like the mobile phone insurance and the breakdown cover!

Mobile phone is covered by warranty at the moment and if it's nicked or accidentally broken, my house insurance covers that.

The one car is covered by motability for breakdown and I think I must be the one of the AA's longest members for the other car!

If the phone breaks it's covered by warranty at the moment, but if I break it our household insurance excess is £150 so it wouldn't be worth claiming!

I have no excess at all on household insurance, hence being able to have a new laptop when I dropped the other one and it didn't cost me a penny!
