Hi guys

Just after a bit of advice. Got my completion certificate through on Friday and just interested to know the best and quickest way of getting everything cleared off my credit file. Grant Thornton have told me that the creditors should individually do it in "due course" (4 - 5 weeks), and that sending my completion certificate to Experian etc wouldn't really speed things up.

Is this the case?

I am in the same situation and trying to clear my history. IVA last payment made 06.09.13, CC received 07.11.13. I have printed off letters to send to the creditors that have wrong dates and defaults still showing on my Credit Report. Is it advisable to send these letters by Recorded Delivery do you think? I don't want them to have any excuse to delay anything.

I've been doing the same- I left it 6 weeks before I've started to do anything ( cos we were told it would take up to 6 weeks for stuff to get updated)

& then after that I've checked our experian file - emailed in completion certs, letter of discharge & final report,,listed all the accounts for dispute: some accounts needed to be marked up as settled/ satisfied & have had one default date corrected to when the iva started as a default was whacked on after the iva finished!!! All the info has been corrected & the iva dropped off within in a month of cc.

Check insolvency register - but apparently it can take up to 3 months for your names to disappear.

My next step was to get our online statutory from equifax- everything pretty much as the same as experian but the iva is still showing on that record.
I've emailed in same info ,,letter of discharge & completion certs. & to ask them to remove iva from the credit file. ( before I did this I phoned them & they said after receiving the certs it would take 3-5 days for the iva to come off.

I signed up to noddle-(free call credit file)- iva is still showing on that credit file aswell so have done the same & emailed in our certs etc.

Personally I wouldn't relay on noddle as main source of info as it much less comprehensive & not all our " debt" info was on it.

I reckon the whole process of "cleaning up credit files"( in anticipation of all defaults dropping off a year after the iva began originally )is about 3 months. -

All I can say is I'm glad I started sorting it out now!! -
IVA COMPLETED & CLEAN CREDIT FILE.

An old bible proverb says this: the rich one rules the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender.

How true are those words of wisdom.
