I think there was one where I used to work before we moved to the middle of nowhere!

I'm nowhere near any shops either and I only have a very short break so nipping out to the shops is not an option for me!

I usually go home every lunchtime as I'm only 10 minutes drive away. I can't stand staying in the office - our rest room is a building site at the moment and if you stay at your desk you're expected to work!

thats what it was like at my last job skip, I used to go park on the rivershore side and eat and read my book.

I'm too far away from home to do that. Our canteen is rubbish and our rest room doesn't have a decent enough table to eat at. We do have a small kitchen and microwave so we can heat up food and I do eat at my desk. I'll answer the phone if it rings otherwise I sit and read my book.

I can go into town but then you tend to spend money so I often just go in the staff room and go on the net but you can't come on here as somebody would see you and FB is banned now through abuse from students so it can be a bit boring. x

I'm only allowed to use the net for allowed sites, this one and FB are definitely not allowed. Good job really as I'd be on here all the time! I can use my phone to post but it is such a long winded affair I don't bother often.

Yeah I could too Jan but agree, it's too long winded and would rather read in full screen.

I take a netbook to the office (can't use the office PC system --it's remotely monitored and anything interesting is blocked) and spend my lunch break "chatting" to the wife on AIM (she has same lunch times as me)

I could take my laptop in (if I had mobile internet) but our building is not conducive to good reception. To make and receive calls on my mobile I have to be either by the window or outside. If I go to the corridor I lose the signal.

That's lovely Foggy, my hubby doesn't use a computer even though I teach IT, I sometimes ring him if I'm bored but he's not the best conversationalist on a phone x

Mine doesn't use the computer and doesn't possess a mobile either! I phone him from work most days - usually to check if the postman has been and to find out what is for tea!

We're by the river, so I might sit and read a book in the summer, but this time of year there's nothing to do.

Nowhere near any water at all - there is a school opposite, a hospital just down the road, an MOD place nearby and the nearest shops are a car drive away. We do have some bences outside but it's not really nice to sit there and breathe in traffic fumes!
