CLOTHING EXPENDITURE ON A IVA

to melanie giles how come the max income and expenditure for clothing is £30 what would if your lucky by you a coat never mind trousers and shoes +socks

Where do you get this figure of £30 from? It is too low and ought to be at least £50 per month for a single person, more for families.

i had a meeting today with a ip advisor from freeman jones and thats the max to offer i think this is because i have a top tv pack with virgin media with includes internet and telephone line

What does clothing have to do with SKY TV! Ridiculous, and I would definately get a second opinion on the advice you are being given.

£30!!! I was told the most I could have is £20! It's ok at the moment but in 5 years there won't be much in the wardrobe! Oh well, can't afford to go to parties anyway

Going from memory I think that this is the CCCS allowance (such charitable people that they are!!) and, on a footnote, about a couple of weeks ago TIX were insisting that £180 household allowance included clothing but they have backed off from this.

I really think that CCCS/TIX should update their expenditure allowances because these figures are about 3 years out of date.

In my book they are about 30 years out of date - but then my husband keeps saying he is going to put me on a clothing allowance as well!!!

i am sorry just watching all of you, clothing holidays etc, i have a boy here tonight who is 14 no debt but love , for his nan who has wrote the most moving eulogy in my life, he has lost his nan who is priceless in the scheme of things, for a woman he loves who he will never see again, think about life, think about it all, think about kids in the presence of it all, we forget about the little people, i hope each and everyone of you has a son like mine, his nan died last night and he has spent his time writing about her, its not about debt but love,i wish i could take a leaf out of his book and be as strong as him. good luck to you all

Hi scaredkez, I too am very sorry to hear of your sad news. My father - in - Law passed away acouple of weeks ago and whilst we were worrying how we were going to find extra money for petrol costs, clothing etc to get to the funeral our children were writing notes to "Grandad" so they could tie them to balloons and send them up to him in the clouds. Being in debt has been a big journey for us all and it is so true that we get so wound up in money issues we lose a grip of what is going on around us. Family is priceless and it is a shame that having money troubles can suffocate your whole life and we miss these important times with our loved ones.
We are beginning to replace our sorrow with happy and fond memories and I hope that you and yours will soon be able to do the same.

At the end of the day our family and friends are the most important things in life. I realised that I couldn't go on with my IVA when my uncle died and I couldn't afford flowers for his funeral. He was far too important to me not to send them, and losing him made me think about everything.

What does it matter if we can't afford Sky TV or new clothes? Providing we have the people we love around us, a roof over our heads (rented or owned, it doesn't matter) and some food on the table (Sainsburys Basics, who cares?) we're all rich really.

Kerri, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum in law, and you must be so proud of your son xxx

I completely understand the feelings expressed in your above posts but I do think it is human nature to want to enjoy the nice parts of life like holidays, a nice car, a few bottles of wine etc. etc. and I think people are entitled to make the most of those things. After all - life is short and you only get one shot at it. Life is full of ups and downs - make the most of the ups.

I know that bereavement is shattering and completely knocks you sideways - and family and friends are very important throughout life. But life for many is not easy and I dont think people should feel guilty for enjoying their material things.

Please dont take this the wrong way - just thought I would put forward my opinion.

but surely.. we lose these little entitlements due to the fact we owe alot of money which we cant pay back... if we all had to do dmp schemes we would lose these little pleasures for alot longer.
