When opening mine they gave me the impression that there must be a sufficient surplus each month!

Hi
I had the same feeling Ray.
I'm sure that income and expenditure plays a part, but they only ask for basics like housing costs[mortgage/rent] and council tax.I wonder if they have a certain % max regarding housing cost v income, simliar to some creditors not accepting housing costs that are 40% or more of income in an IVA.

I suppose although these accounts are non-credit accounts, at the end of the day if you had everything set up on direct debits and weren't earning enough then you could accumulate quite a few £19.50 charges and run into an unauthorised overdraft.

I suppose that is one advantage of the Think banking account as that won't happen!

Having just had my Iva accepted last month, I had read on here that CO-OP were really great for their cashminder acc.I wanted the internet banking and post ofice deposit bit most so went onto their website and got their number. I rang and spoke to alovely lady whom i explained my situation to and she said I would be fine to apply-she did advise me it would probably be referred but reassured me that the co-op did not mind people in IVa's. I got my welcome pack through the door a few days later and a visa electron card.I also opened a basic saver with them which i can also see when i log online. I am so pleased as this is going to help me manage my funds alot better! Give them a call!
xxnic
Forgot to mention they didnt ask me anyhting about income and expenditure! Not a thing!
