Hello everyone can i just start my saying what a wonderful and supportive lot of people you all are on here. [:)]
I've finally faced up to all my debts and sent in my signed proposal to cleardebt and am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes through ok. Usual story of taking out loans too clear debts and then them slowly building up again over several years until one day you wake up to find you have no more Peter to may Paul. IVA only in my name as husband was only on one joint loan and was until a few weeks ago blissfully unaware that we had a financial problem. Didn't see the point of 2 of us not sleeping !!!
Anyway my question is i sit on several Committee's and they all have a rule about you can't be on there if you've been made bankrupt but not sure about the rules regarding IVA .
Does anyone know if i can still be a committee member and be in an IVA ?
I am in a similar boat, being a trustee (director of company - limited by guarantee) of a charity, and a local business group (director again).
I have no responsibilties re accounts etc - I am just 'on the board' in an advisory capacity - all unpaid.
The directorships are logged at Company House I think, since I was appointed using form 288 or something by the Co secretaries....
It will be very embarrassing if I am 'struck off' and if its likely them I guess I will have to resign for personal reasons or something, which would be a shame as we do quite a bit for the local community.
Anyone know if I am going to be OK on this if my IVA is accepted?
I cannot see why this should affect your appointments, but as I earlier said to Devon you really need to check with the organisations concerned to see what policies they may have to cover this.
Its the sort of question that might give the game away, thats the trouble...
"A friend of mine is in financial difficulty and might be entering into an IVA, he has a board directorship just like mine on a company just like this one, and I was just wondering....?"
Hopefully Companies House are not automatically informed though, as I believe is the case with bankruptcy?
