I completed my IVA in September. DFD have told me it can take up to 6 months to get my certificate. My bank will not recognise its completion until I can get the certificate. I feel like I am being further punished after 6 long years of hardwork and still can't get on with my life! Is this normal and how long do we have to wait for it to be removed from the Insolvency Register. Feel like we are still being stigmatised after such a long and hard road.
Hi there well done on your IVA completion I know some companies take longer than other for the certificate to be processed, I think it's something to do with all dividends and creditors but don't quote me on that! However, I know Declan who works with DFD may be around next weeks so we'll keep this bumped up for his advise. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Hi Pikelander
If you wouldnt mind dropping me an email with your details on there, I will chase this up for you and find out what is happening with the certificate. My details caqn be found in the experts section.
I was also with DFD and my IVA ended in March 2010. My certificate took about 6 weeks, and this was with Declan's assistance (much appreciated Declan!!)
With regards the Insolvency Register, your name should now be removed? I was off there about month after the IVA had ended.
Lesley is on the right lines. Most IP's will write in a period of 'housekeeping' months into the proposal to allow time for creditors to cash final dividend payments, file reports ect ect. If you check your proposal it should tell you how long they have to do this (it will be under the 'Duration' section).
Likewise, until final dividends have been paid, the IP cannot sign off your completion certificate, and therefore you will remain on the Insolvency register (as your VA has technically not yet finished even though payments have). As long as there are funs being held in your insolvency services account, the completion statement cannot be signed off. The IP will allow a maximum period for creditors to cash final cheques (six months being the longest).
On the plus side, if it does run for the full six months there will be some uncleared funds, and they should come back to you!!
Do, as in all cases, check your proposal for further information.
I'm sure Declan will pick up on this tomorrow. He has sorted out one or two certificates for posters recently.

Just to update, today in the post, we received a final creditors report. Six weeks after the final payment. As most of the information has always been the same I am at a loss as to what has taken six weeks. It was accompanied by a one line letter "Please find enclossed a copy of my annual report to your creditors". We have received nothing regarding the completion or the certificate and I am starting to get frustrated. In addition to this my creditors seem to have started registering defaults on my credit report. I know Declan is looking into this but we are so frustrated.
Can somebody please tell me if this HELL will ever stop!
It seems strange that an annual report would have been done without combining this with closure proceedings. I am afraid that only your IP can throw any light on this.
