Well, i emailed GT about 2 weeks ago asking if there was "any update on my closure, or anything else that i need to do, so that it can come to a speedy end" (my last payment was in July 2013, letter received October 2013 advising it will take up to 6 months to close) and this was basically a polite email to try and move them along if they were dragging their heels, when i really wanted to say "how much b***** longer do i have to wait and you better not be leaving it under a pile!!", and i received a reply back earlier today from them advising

"I have some really good news for you.

Your case was closed on 11 March 2014 and your closure report should be with you in the next week or so via post.

However I have attached a copy to this email for you."

I have to say that these past few months since the IVA ended have seemed as long as the 5 years i spent making my monthly payments. Waiting for the certificate so that i can now finally get on with my life has been like a kid waiting for Xmas to come. But now it's here, i can finally move on. My case may have been resolved quickly as i had no house/property (living with parents when i went into IVA) and no PPI to tie things up at the end, but i hope for the sake of others who do have these things, that this is a sign that GT are getting on top of things rather than my case being fairly simple to close, and you guys will be receiving your good news soon enough.

I've posted on this forum only a couple of times in my near 6 year journey, but i have regularly dropped in on a weekly basis to read comments/questions left by others and have to say that the contributors to this site deserve medals for what they do - free of charge. Sometimes, just to have a lay person put things into understandable terms or have one of the experts give you their opinions even though you aren't their client, is a big help to a lot of people and i'm sure everyone appreciates what you guys do.

For those just starting on their IVA or those part way through, it does get easier and the light is there at the end of the tunnel, getting brighter and brighter month on month. Good luck to you all in reaching that end.

Time to go celebrate now with a few sherry's, then get on with cleaning up the credit file!!

Congratulations and well done. Your time scale was pretty close to mine and back to GT's "pre-PPI" time scales. I am afraid they have never been the fastest horse in the race, but, hopefully are at least back to old form.

Mel's firm has a decent guide to credit clean up here:
