It's a lovely feeling though to be fair not to be overdrawn and worried how you can go shopping as you're close to o/d limit.

I know exactly what is in there and which part of it is mine to spend, I am a little obsessed but feel it's my way of control.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I check everyday also. I also limited myself daily and go to the cashpoint where I can so I alaways know my balance.
37 payments made, 23 to go.

I am always checking the co op online site to see if anyone has happened to deposit a large cheque just to be kind to me but its never happened yet!!!

The wife doesnt understand it when I moan to get her petrol receipts so I can file them away and make a note of whats left to spend.

Not looking forward to xmas although got past sons birthday without too much hassle, and he said it was his best birthday yet(hes 11),as he knows that money is tight,us having explained that all the cards we used to have were just like loans so we cant use them anymore.

So far dogs been to vets and car failed MOT and we havent even had our trust deed approved yet!!! Talk about budgeting. Time this is over I could get a job at 11 downing street!!(if thats where the chancellor lives)
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Hi, I also check my bank account online everyday, mainly because my hubby managed to by some stuff on ebay once and took us overdrawn!! The bank charged us £150 in fees!! It took me 2 days of constantly phoning them to get them to refund the fees or we would've had no money for food! Now I drive him mad checking his spending every day! I think he's getting used to it now though, cos he keeps checking with me what we have and if he can spend money now!! I don't think I'll ever stop being so cautious with money even when our iva ends. We learnt our lesson and now realise how silly we were.

I have to be fair my husband doesn't have money! I think he thinks he's royalty! He takes a packed lunch to work and doesn't smoke or drink so doesn't need money. If and when he goes fishing he mainly got boilies from last year and soon he'll visit tacklefest and have his allowance of 10 or £20 depending on funds. Neither of us have money as such for anything personal.

I think it's good to be so much in control of our finances [:)] Remember the days of spending willy nilly on credit cards ... i never want to go back to that again!

i'm obsessed with checking our online banking too. hubby is a nitemare for sneaking the card out so he can buy lunch rather than take sandwichs. (which drives me mad) i find myself ringing him saying right 3.50 has been spent today where has it gone. lol. people will probably think i'm awful doing that to him, but he doesn't realise that spending money without checking with me might end up costing us £38 in bank charges. then i really would kill him. lol

I actually think its good that Im checking mine about every 2 days. Part of the reason why Im in this mess is that my head has been so firmly stuck in the sand that I have been too scared to look at my accounts from one month to the next!
Now I am having to face it head on and deal with it, just as sacry but I do also feel quite proud of myself.(Not that I really have any right to!)

Connie, I think that's really bad of him to do that.

I am the one who sorts the finances out (not that I did a brilliant job of it before!!!!!!!) so I know exactly how much is going out and coming in. Neither of us would spend anything without checking with the other first.

I don't check every day, about once a week is enough for me so that I can just make sure that everything has gone out that needs to have.

Connie, you are just going to have to hide that card where he can't find it! The last thing you need right now are bank charges!

I too check mine everyday, and sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.
I have all my outgoings (monthly bills) typed onto a spreadsheet that i print out with the current month and the next 2, and then as each bill goes out of my Account, I tick it off, so I can then easily look at a glance to see what is left to pay.
I have always used on-line banking and it would be like my right arm had been cut off if I couldn't get onto it - not sure how i will cope when on holiday for 2 weeks...LOL!

I love online banking, it's one of the best things ever invented! How we managed when it was just one statement a month I don't know!

The only thing I go into the bank for now is to pay in money.

My husband gets paid straight into bank and we dont go near that, i get paid cash, so out of my money i deposit any shortfall of what we need in bank per week buy the food and if there is anything left over it goes in the mug in the kitchen so we know exactly how much we have to spend or save each week. If the kids need something i just have a really tight food shop that week by writing down a list before i go

We're pretty much the same Jill. My salary is paid into the bank. Hubbies benefits are picked up from the post office every week and we take any any shortfall out of that and pay it into the bank. We use the rest to buy food.

We always make a list, and I have now taken to checking prices before we go so that I know roughly how much it is going to cost.
