I have been contacted several times by one of my creditors at work. It is starting to make life pretty difficult. I am in the process of trying to agree a payment plan with my creditors. I have written to them to ask them to stop ringing me at work, but they are persisting. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

Probably not, but maybe try changing your work contact number to something obscure?

I changed my home contact number to our fax line at home, and it has been ringing to its hearts content.

when mine telephoned me at work i informed them that if they continued to do so i would be sacked and then were would that leave me in regards paying them, i said you can telephone me at home, if they persist just tell them they are now harassing you and you will be complaining and quote the telecommunications act and harassment law.
good luck

Quote the harassment law - it worked for me!!! Although they weren't calling at work, they persisted day in day out at home.

I just contacted my creditors and said I had changed depts. As a result would they please remove my works no from the sytem as I was no longer contactable at work. I then gave them a old pay as you talk mobile no and let it ring to its hearts content.

Hi Cr15py
One big advantage of an IVA is the fact that once agreed all creditor contact stops. The downside of a payment plan is that creditors are free to contact you and to take legal action whenever they want to.
Have you looked into all opions ?

It sometimes takes creditors a little while to update their systems though. I had yet another call at work today, after being in an iva for 4 months now!
I'd love to quote the harassment law at them but as everyone else can overhear it's not practical. I did tell them I wasn't available and didn't work there anymore though!!
I'd love to know how they got the number in the first place, I've never given it to them.

Thanks for that guys. I actually plucked up the courage to ring them now, and I really don't know what I was fretting about, they were actually quite friendly and I have agreed a reduced payment plan with them which I find much more manageable now.

PS - I have told them to remove my work number and given them an old mobile number which I only use very occassionally (as opposed to the works mobile which gets most use!)
