Hi,

This is my first post on this forum but have been an avid reader for the past few months.

I am in an IVA and have completed 30 months so far. My job is changing a little and I am now required to travel overseas on business. I have been considering applying for a corporate credit card. The way our company cards work is that the employee is required to pay the entire balance at the end of each month by direct debit and reclaim the expenses. This I guess means that the employee/individual is liable for the debt and not the company. Would I be able to apply for a Corporate Credit Card?

Advice welcome please.

Hi
I am not sure if you or the company will be liable, however I reckon that they would do a credit check on you and that will cause a problem for you.

You may be better off by speaking to your IP, who may be able to look at a 1 or 2 month payment break so that you can fund the initial costs on a debit card rather than a corporate credit card. That way, the expenses you initially run up can be funded by your payment break, and ongoing expenses can be met by last months expenses claim, so to speak. You would have to make up the break of course, but if you are going to be credit checked and fail then it may be a more sensible way.

Speak to your IP directly though.

Regards.
