Hello everyone.
I have recently applied for a Business account with Natwest but they have come back with an insolvency/bankruptcy flag. I'm assuming this is my IVA.
Only thing is my IVA was settled five maybe 6 years ago!
I am fully solvent, have a mortgage, car finance etc so my credit history is now impeccable. Is there some way my IVA is still visible somewhere?
Thanks for your help. IVA saved my life really.

Have you checked all three credit reference agencies files, including any Notices of Correction they might hold ? I suspect that lenders have access to archived records (hence these PPI claims companies being able to go back, as they quote, 35 years). If this was the case surely we should also be able to see this data !
When you are refused credit, lenders do not have to f=give a reasi=on, but they do have to reveal which CRA they use .. maybe the same appies to other credit checks.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Were you ever a customer of Natwest pre-IVA? I wouldn't be surprised if they have their own records showing a marker, although I don't know if this is something that they can keep indefinitely with data protection regs.

Hi Littledinga
Natwest use Equifax as there preferred reference agency. Have you checked there, alternatively Clearscore is a consumer version of Equifax, you can freely access clearscore. Look in the Public/Court records section of the report, to see if this is clear of the IVA

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I have checked everything I can think of. Clearscore , Noddle, Experian. I even searched for myself on HMRC's insolvency database. My credit score comes out as good-excellent on all of them and I don't appear on any insolvency lists. Most mysterious.
Ah well, I guess I will try with another bank and see what happens. If that fails i will just try to open another current account and use that.
Bugs me though all of my accounts are with Natwest and they are in good order and have been for 10 years plus. I got into trouble with money, my fault I don't blame anyone else but now I am sorted and just want to carve a life for me and my family. The thought that somewhere the biggest criminals on the planet have a black mark against me despite everything rankles me somewhat.
Hey ho, onwards on upwards.
Thanks for the replies ladies and gentlemen.
And to those thinking of putting their lives in order with an IVA don't let this put you off! Despite this little hiccup my IVA changed my life.....sooo much for the better. Good luck.
Shane

Just a thought ... have you actually sat across the table and spoken with a Business Manager fom NatWest, face to face ? We have had a few instances where a business account was refused in the "automated" application process, but was subsequently granted once a human being was put into the chain.

Try Swallow - all app. based (including how you apply) and I was accepted by them recently.
